I was cruising on the interstate around 2am and I see a Z in my rear view mirror. He pulled next to me and slowed down, we both roll down our windows, doing about 70mph and decide to do a few runs. He does the 1,2,3 honk, and we both just get on it. First run, until 3rd gear we were head to head, after I hit 4th, i slowly started pulling away from him and then i slowed down around 130mph. 2nd run same thing, he was maybe a quarter of a car length ahead of me, yet again when i hit 4th gear i cought up and passed him doing around 135-140. 3rd run, same start, pretty even on 3rd gear and once i hit 4th, i pulled away from him.

My car is pretty much stock except for cai and exhaust. I had a passenger with me as well. The guy in the Z had no passengers.
There was absolutely no cars on the interstate which made things alot more fun. I was impressed by my car considering the weight. I have no doubt that a Z would kill me off the line though.

Well 350z are nice but 540s are better overall. 540i is faster. raced one with my friends Z...lost to 2 car lengths.

My car is already pre-vanos, its a 98. I don't think i can do an intake manifold upgrade since the E34 540's use the exact same intake manifold as the E39 pre-vanos ones. The part # for them are the same. And yes, I would love the 3.15 especially lsd. they are expensive though..

If not, why didnt you just purchase a brand new 350Z for half the price of your 335, do some f/i upgrades and smoke every 335 out there, and you still would have some money left to spend on other things.

I was riding shotgun in my buddies 540 and we pulled one all along I5 on the way back up to seattle. Was good times, the 540 was DEFINITELY faster.

E39 540i Six Speed M Sport is a short step under the E39 M5. I used to own a 2001 540i Sixer, and it has some very serious credibility on rolling runs. I will testify that, stock for stock, a 350z has absolutely nothing on the 540i sixer from a 70 roll up.

Id love to, cuz I always wondered how bad would I get beat :) Mine's auto handicapted by 2.81 rear end and 128mph governor limited speed =)) Id still love to run with a Z or a G :)
