UPDATE: POST 23

Greetings all fellow BMW Owners!
I was recently inspired to somehow give back to the community. So upon a lot of thinking, and remembering BMW's "The Ultimate Drive" campaign, I stumbled across an idea. I'm going to be organizing a Barbecue in Exeter, NH to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. I'm trying to get the word out as quickly as possible because I'm aiming for this to take place this upcoming May.

So here is some basic info:

Who: Everyone (excluding rice cars, but the people are still welcome :) )
What: A meet, to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation
Where: RiteAid Parking lot, Exeter, NH
When: Saturday, (End of April, 2008)
Why: Because what is better than making people feel better?

I will keep you all posted!

Cheers!
-Fred

Very nice I am definitely down for anything like this.

Navid (yod88) and I were going to do a cruise to benefit people with MS, since my mother has it. Should be this summer, just a heads up. :)

still trying to find a place to cruise to...

I'm going to go to the dealership tomorrow and ask them if they wish to partake in the events. There usually pretty cool about this kind of stuff. Plus theres a bunch of techs that are on the forums too.

oh and miller, i never got to tell ya, but i saw ur car at bavauto's show and shine and i was like  ( <-- if its not clear, thats a drooling face)

This sounds interesting...

...but what are we trying to save? Will there be varying examples on display to observe and experience for ourselves? Its often easier to learn and understand through seeing and touching things in front of you. This is all helpful in getting a feel for what we're ....umm.... ...up against. :paranoid:

Another idea is we can get a group together to volunteer at a charity event or shelter for a day. We can bring an item (food or clothing) there and help them out. This will bring even more meaning to the cause. I am sure someone can find a place for us to do this.:)

Maybe the boston bmwcca could do something like this. I'd like to spend a day with friends helping others...

I emailed the SGK Foundation and they said basically that I couldn't do it because I couldn't use their name and logo without permission. So it looks like it's off :(

LOL selfish bastards. We're just a group of boobie loving individuals that don't want to see a single set of sweater puppies harmed. It's a shame that they don't see our devotion to their cause.

On a related note, is it too late to register to drive a new BMW in this years official cruise?

Think it's later in the year. I'll keep my eyes open for it. Definitely a great time.

What about finding another organization or just having a get together with an entry fee for a donation? /gotnothin

Sounds like a plan, but we definitely still need some fun bags in attendance. I'm sorry Blurr got them on my mind, and I'm beginning to think that it's a must for any event.
