View Full Version : Ever since I've put M Kit on my car...
SJTrance 07-24-2001, 12:18 PM Ever since I've put the M Technic kit on my car, people have just ceased trying to race me. No one wants to fock with an M3. Hell, I really don't either. The only race I've ever had with an M3 was the first race of my life. It was with a supercharged M3 Convertible. I knew I was going to get spanked, but I didn't know how much. On top of that, he gave me 3 car lengths. When the race started, I just sat there spinning tires further diminishing any chance to save face. Once I hooked up, I was infront of him for only a few glorious moments until he snatched my ass. Oh well; they say a good ass whooping every once in a while builds character.
540Rob 07-24-2001, 12:40 PM Is it badged M3 as well?
SJTrance 07-24-2001, 12:44 PM No. That's something I'll never do. It's badged 328i, and that's how it'll stay. One day, though...I'll make my 328 faster than a stock M3, and I'll still keep it badged 328. At this point, it handles better than a stock M3. I'll have to find an M differential with the limited slip before I can totally brag about cornering, though.
SupaBimma 07-24-2001, 02:31 PM Sup SJTrance, when did you race this M3?? We should race sometime dude, It would be a really close race.
HEY SJTrance, good news, I used your idea to tell my dad i almost spinned out so he's buying me the Bilstein sport kit for my birthday!! heheh how awesome is that. Thanks for your advice on the reacing harnesses. Email me or call me sometime. later
540Rob 07-24-2001, 05:35 PM I thought about making mine faster than a M3... but the turbo for it cost 13,000..... I'd rather just take that money plus my car and buy a M3
SJTrance 07-24-2001, 07:27 PM To Supabimma...
See, I told you it'd work. Congradulations on the "kill." Hehe. But seriously, it might really happen in real life if you're not careful. By the way, when's your birthday? I raced that supercharged M3 more than2 years ago. Yeah, I'd love to race your car. But I've got a problem with mine right now. My Guibo or flexdisc is torn again. Man, that's the dissadvantage to a hard ass clutch. I've got to replace it. Remember the same problem that I had on the test track at momentum with the violent vibration when I'm accelerating hard? Well, sheeeee's baaaack!

Yeah, you've got the bottom line point there, buddy. But there are other ways to be faster than an M3. Forced Induction ins't all there is. Either way, it would be expensive. The money could be put towards buying an M3. But I've grown so attached to my car. "We've been through so much togather." Hehe. What I'm trying to say goes back to all these import tuners (not ricers) fixing up their cars to beat an American Muscle car. There's just a joy in it.
Stylin 07-24-2001, 08:46 PM You can make a 328 as fast as a M3.. I pulled a 5.6 in the 0-60 on the gtech in 80 degree weather the other day. A pulley is on the to do list as well. :) Or a Flywheel if the clutch ever dies.. which ever comes first.
540Rob 07-24-2001, 09:50 PM But that's on the Gtech.... not excatally a stop watch.
Stockman 07-24-2001, 09:53 PM gtech is pretty damn accurate actually...
540Rob 07-24-2001, 09:56 PM I guess I'm wrong then.
Harry 07-24-2001, 10:36 PM You can make a 328 as fast as a M3..
Stylin, how much did that cost you in mods?
SJTrance 07-24-2001, 10:46 PM There's a guy here with an M3 with a 3.73 differential. He wants to sell it. He's trying to convince me that this is perfect for my car. If I'm not mistaken, this is too much for a 328, right? What differential did you have again, Willy? Another awesome thing that you got with your differential is the limited slip. That's just another one of the sweet parts of the deal. Acceleration (especially out of a corner) is greatly improved. Do you notice the limited slip working?
Stylin 07-24-2001, 11:14 PM A gtech has been proven to be VERY accurate BTW..
The limited slip is AWESOME!! I love it.. I never want to drive another RWD car without a LSD again. Taking off is better, blasting out of a corner is way better.. donuts are so much fun now.. I notice it big time. a 3.73 is a bit high.. expect ur top speed to be around 125mph or so.. which means u'll be reving damn high and each gear will be so short. The tick has a 3.91 and he says he shifts into 2nd to pull into his driveway..!! I personally do a lot of highway driving so my 3.38 is already pretty high for me. I wouldnt recommend anything higher than a 3.46 for a 328. Remember.. stock ratio is 2.93.. For an example of what a 3.73 will feel like.. drive around without shifting out of 3rd gear for a few days and see if u can live with it. Seriously.
How much did everything cost for me..?? For which catagory of mods..?? Overall Im in about $15,000 on mods i think.
Now I need some LTW rims for some real speed.. the HM IIs are WAY heavy.. i can tell.
Harry 07-24-2001, 11:16 PM Jesus.. thats a lot of coin. How much faster is your car than an m3? But its still a sweet looking ride.

Its just as fast as a 96+ M3 5-speed.:) But we'll see what happens after i get pulleys or a ltw flywheel.
