Basically, the E36 M3 has M50 Manifold, Dinan Cai, AA Exhuast and Fan Delete and it doesn't pull much on the 328is which has Fan Delete, M3 Exhaust and Cosmos CAI. The 328is has ran a best of 14.8 in the 1/4. The M3 has not hit the track yet...

i'm assuming there wasn't a passenger in the 328? what other weight disadvantages were there? that M3 should have pulled quite a bit more than what is shown in that video. i mean you're talking about a full second quicker in the quarter mile between the two and probably 5mph+ trap speed difference.

No passenger in the 328 and the weight came from my fatass.. 250lbs or so in his car.

haha I wasn't saying the M3 was running poorly due to the VCG just saying it was an issue with the car and it's possible he has oil on his plugs or something...though it doesn't seem to be misfiring or anything. We're doing a full tuneup shortly so we'll re-run them then... we do this stuff all the time so there will be updates. This was sort of a baseline video...

ah ok cool that makes a bit more sense. vacuum leaks are not uncommon with the m50 manifold swap so you're definitely right in checking for them.

I enjoy it not for the competition but for the opportunity to show the difference in cars...

Maybe it's just me, but I think the outcome of the race it's pretty normal, ok maybe the m3 could be a bit faster, but it's normal for 2 cars that have with mods around what 50-60hp off difference between them (we're not talking about a car that has 100hp and the other 150hp either) plus the m3 is a little heavier stock and it has 250pounds additional passanger.

All the cars that I've raced that had similar weight/gearing and the difference was around 50hp between my car and the one I've raced, the outcome was pretty much the same as the one in this video, generaly on the highway it takes a lot of difference in power to really leave the other guy behind... and for the race from 1st gear, well the weight of the m3 really didn't help at the lower speeds.

I don't know just my opinion, cause I remember racing the 320i I have now against my 325i that I've sold, the difference is around 50hp,(closer gearing for the 320) but still I was able to put barely a few cars from 60-120mph, from around 100-110mph I started to get away from him slowly.....

Same think, raced a s2000 and from 80mph to 135mph and he only gained a few cars on me....

So I don't think the m3 is suppose to destroy the 328 in this vid, could be a bit faster sure, but I don't think the difference should be so big...
