I got tired of looking at that useless hole in the radiator cover and decided to fabricate a plate to fill the hole. I went browsing at Home Depot and came across some matte black counter-top material (Wilsonart laminate SKU 1595-60 http://samples.wilsonart.com/p-289-black-1595-60.aspx ) that looked like it would be a good match for the black plastic cover. It turns out to be a perfect match. I then made a pattern and cut out a piece to cover the hole when affixed from underneath the cover.
Removing the cover involves destroying eight expanding plastic rivets, P/N 51 16 8 197 908, at 30 cents each.
I used Permatex black silicone adhesive to secure the plate and then applied aluminum HVAC tape.
