AP Wire - North Pole: Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer was accidentally killed late last night during some low flying training exercises. Will there be a Christmas?
The driver of a late model BMW, who wishes to remain anonymous stated, "All I saw was this bright red light coming down at me...it came out of nowhere...there wasn't anything I could to avoid the accident!"
State police reported that Santa Claus was not injured in the accident as he was not onboard the sleigh when the accident occurred. Two elves injured in the accident, who appears to have been the ones driving the sleigh, were treated and released from North Pole Memorial Hospital. No charges have been filed as of yet as authorities are awaiting a toxicology report due out later this week.
Local authorities are in somewhat of a quandary as they are unsure of their jurisdiction as the accident occurred just 1 meter over the roads surface. Pending the toxicology reports authorities have no decided whether or not they will pursue criminal charges.
The driver of the BMW was shaken but not injured. "I feel responsible for this mess. If Christmas is cancelled I will feel just terrible," stated the driver. No official comments have been released from the North Pole. Unofficial reports have noted that back up reindeer are available, but none with the bright red nose that Rudolph was so famous for in childhood stories. People close to Santa report that they have been preparing for such an incident for years and feel that L.E.D. lights might be a good solution to this immediate problem. Rigging L.E.D. lights to the lead reindeer might make travel safe enough for Santa to avoid canceling Christmas.
