View Full Version : Good deal or not??
Kvothe 12-20-2007, 12:00 PM I just bought a 1997 BMW 740i with 135K miles on it and I am the 3rd owner of the vehicle. It drives like a new car and seems to have been very well cared for. I ran a carfax and everything came up clean. I gave $6K for it which I thought was a very good price. Does this sound like a good price?
I would post pictures, but I can't figure out how to....
30deep 12-20-2007, 12:32 PM What color is it?
Very good deal.
If it has 135k miles, then I bet the previous owner replaced all of those 100k-mile things, like intake gaskets, maf, o2 sensors, water pump, control arms, tires, brakes, etc., etc., etc.... It's like you have a new car.
Cashmere740IL 12-20-2007, 02:57 PM Seems like you made out pretty well. You can't post pictures until you have 20 posts. You can send them to me and I can post them for you if you'd like. CashmereBMW740il@aol.com
Rayon 12-20-2007, 03:13 PM 6k sounds pretty good. I just bought a black 01 for 15k.

I just emailed you the pictures, if you don't mind posting them. I really like the car so far. I hope it will go another 100K miles for me.
kromdom 12-20-2007, 07:37 PM I use autotrader.com/cars.com/ebay when comparing prices...making sure I am comparing apples to apples: year, mileage, options, zip code, options/features, etc.

Kvothe 12-21-2007, 12:46 PM Thanks for posting those......maybe I will hit 20 before too long.
Cashmere740IL 12-21-2007, 12:48 PM No problem....it looks good....you just need to get some new wheels, unless your a fan of the basketweaves. :)
You'll hit 20 before you know it.

I don't dislike the current wheels, nor do I just love them either. I do like a classic style wheel, and really don't want to turn it into a pimp car.....what can you suggest.
Cashmere740IL 12-21-2007, 01:44 PM That's cool if you like those, some people do...there are many wheels out there for the E38...I would stick with BMW wheels since there is a variety of different styles...if you look at the thread at the top of the page called "Members Rides, Picture Gallery" you can see members with a variety of different wheels...but if you're happy with those, stick with them.
EDIT: By the way, don't forget to bookmark www.e38.org (http://www.e38.org), there is a plethora of info there about 7's.
