View Full Version : I have the heater on, but it only blows cold billig123 12-20-2007, 12:00 AM Any easy fixes? It's really cold, hope it isn't heater control valve victoriabmw27 12-20-2007, 12:09 AM It could be. I just fixed mine by replacing my axuilary vaule. It was blowing out cold air on one side and warm on the other, the vaule fixed this problem. board57796 12-20-2007, 12:35 AM Mine does that but instead of using the setting for blowing on your face I just turn the defrost on and that always blows out hot air even if the lower vents are blowing cold. shogun 12-20-2007, 12:42 AM It might help us all to help you if you could add to your profile about which 730 model you talk. E23, E38, E32 ? Built year? After you clarified that, we can answer, other answers are just speculation. And in case it is a E32, then also indicate which engine. 730 came as straight 6 730 with the M30B30 engine, and as 730 V8 with the M60B30 engine. And you mentioned 730i, is that really with manual gear? In case your car has a automatic tranny, indicate better 730iA. Thanks a lot plik 12-20-2007, 01:44 AM It might help us all to help you if you could add to your profile about which 730 model you talk. E23, E38, E32 ? Built year? Thanks a lot Man Shogun, don't you wish everyone put their car information in their avatar? http://www.bestdesignever.com/osv/avatar.jpg shogun 12-20-2007, 02:48 AM There are some boards where you only can register after you filled out the complete car data information. Waste of time, always asking..... Even if it would be a E32, what year/month of production, IHKA/IHR yes or no, manual gear or not, V8, straight 6, or V12 engine. Maybe I am too technical minded, but to really help I need those details! I know some REAL experts on other boards which do not answer to any question if the profile is not filled out. They are busy enough to give a good and detailed answer. I also dig often in wiring diagrams for a long time to help people. plik 12-20-2007, 11:33 AM I know some REAL experts on other boards ... :( Aw Shogun ... we're doing the best we can. RomanN 12-20-2007, 03:11 PM Does your heat work when you rev the engine? Is your coolant topped up?, hit the heater control valve with a 2x4 might open the velves, is the dial on the vents pointing to red or cold? check for these things. HCV is very easy to replace took me 10 min. RomanN 12-20-2007, 03:14 PM just realized you had a 730i, you need to give more info, could be heater core plugged on this car, try pressure test it, you will probably see alot of crap come out. shogun 12-20-2007, 11:09 PM In case it is an E32: http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/380566/ http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/419686/ http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/419843 If you have more questions, please specify exact car data, results of checking as per my above links, and then we will proceed from there on. billig123 12-21-2007, 12:42 PM It's an e38 730i with the m60 v8 and manual trannyd. Maybe this will help. THanks. I don't mind the idea of whacking the HCV with a 2x4. I have had some coolant leaking. my Thermostat housing had cracked so I'm in the process of swapping that out right now along with the thermostat. deciphe 12-21-2007, 01:50 PM I have a simular problem but mine is only hot on the right side Blows ok from both but no heat top middle or bottom on the drivers side. After a little white it will come out slighty warm. Is this my heater control valve? |
