No good deed goes unpunished: I go to by X-mas presents for the family. The 318ti decides to blow a coolant hose right before the mall exit. I limp off the highway only to find tons of traffic. People have never been so scared: a white boy in a bright red BMW with tons of smoke coming out of the hood, honking like a maniac trying to get into a gas station. 1 hour and 15 minutes later, 6 gallons of water later, 7ish stops on the side of the road, 10 frozen fingers, and massive amounts of stress. I am finally home; I didn't accomplish anything either.

Of course my first instinct is to call FredK to get his input. :help

Great day back from school

That blows man, similar thing happened to me last winter except that is was the impeller of the [4 month old] water pump that decided to shear free from the shaft. I've got a bunch of posts about it in the e46 section if you search.

If you need help with the repair and haven't finished it by this weekend, I'll be in the bridgewater area for 4-5 days starting saturday.

I can come over and supervise (read: drink beer and make snide comments) if need be.

There's always room for cowbell.

Don't feel bad at least you don't have a e39. I've had to do the same thing on about 6 ocassions. Busted rad, Leaking WP, replaced everything then a line in the back of the ruptured coolant all over my engine. The accessory water pump also failed and had to be replaced another coolant leak there.

note to self: never DIY with m3fuz...as he does what I do best, and results could be minimal. However, if other DIY'ers are in attendance, m3fuz could be a great DIY partner, as we could tackle the same "projects" together.

"Minimal" is being generous. :rofl

If your 318ti has like 100K then it might be the two known hard plastic collant hose/connector that went. One is inside and under the manifold and the other is on the back of the block near the passenger side. Not the easiest to fix get to. It sucks but you made it without blowing the head gasket so you are lucky. Now get to work over the weekend!

Just to let you know augy takes trannys out with no jack, only his arms to lift the car, he takes manifold bolts out with his teeth, there is no "hard to get to " for augy.

.....he also takes it in the rear :shifty......or so I've heard :nono

There's no need to get to know us any better, just get in on it.
I've only met augy once drunk backstage at the ballet with mcblurrr.

...arctic would have been present but it is after all blumpkin pie season, and itsagonnaletherdoit was occupying her time.

augy, sorry to hear about the mishap.

join us jews and you wouldn't have had to have been out shopping in the first place.

Once you are over 6 your parents tell you hannukah is a minor holiday and the whole 8 days of presents goes away.

Bad news: no 8 days of presents.

Good news: one big "hannukah" check

Best news: when you're older you NEVER have to go to the mall during this time of year.

Do it man, J-O-O
