Hello,

My 95 has an Alpine CD head unit (pretty recent model, CDA-7844 I believe) and I have to remove it and return it to the previous owner of the car.

I'm wondering how hard it is to remove it?

Crutchfield says it requires a special key, but surely someone here has done this with an Alpine deck before. I don't think it's the "u-shaped" things used to pull alot of OEM decks.

Any tips would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Yes the unit needs special keys to get out.
Your best bet is to go to a stereo shop local- and ask them to pop it out for you. they ususally have all the keys to a radio. takes 1 minute to do

They shouldn't charge you for it either

NO special key needed!!

Just pull the detach face off,
next remove the bezel carfully

at each side you will see to clips
you will need to slide each clip to the center so that the stereo can be pulled away from the cage.

And VoilA!!!

unplug the harness and your are good to go!!

E-mial me if you have any questions. I have pics!!
