how the hell would you even recover from there?

Let off the gas and turn the wheel HARD to the left?

surely it was Ditka, He probably flipped over twice and landed correctly and went on to win the race by 4 laps, they just showed you half the story out of jealousy.

Wow. That's great as long as he's OK; it looked like he might hit the wall roof-first.

You can tell he turned to the left and saved himself from flipping but unfortunately that steered him right into the wall, as far as I could tell.

That would be pretty scary.

I love it, not even from Chicago but knows to pay respect to Ditka! Actually, Ditka would have done all of that in a school bus!

Seriously though, the M3 took that last corner a little too tight and hit the curb. It's just amazing how it put him up on 2 wheels, like it was staged or something.

Imagine the impact the suspension would take even if he did get it down on all 4, I'd expect at least some bent control arms

I'm trying to figure out whether the suspension was too stiff or not stiff enough. Looking at the video over and over again, I think both cases could have caused the lift. The other cars got through there ok. Thoughts? I'm inclined to think it was too stiff.

He just hit the bump right, less bound dampening and more travel might have helped (softer springs maybe too, but I think the shocks play a bigger role in this case). A slicker tire (less grip) would have helped even more instead of letting the car rotate the left side tires could have just slipped.

Yes, I was thinking along the lines of dampening and travel. When he hit the bump, a softer suspension would have given the car some compliance and let it lean slightly rather than lift the side. Since, it's probably too stiff and less compliant, the bump and the tight right curve he tried to negotiate afterwards lifted that side up.
