This entire time my 540i ownership I have had the dreaded seat twist problem.

I was driving today and felt like adjusting my seat. I decide to recline it just for the heck of it just to see if I can get anymore recline before it twists. To my surprise the seat didn't twist at all, it fixed itself!!! Both sides moved at the same speed and now it works like normal again.

Just thought I'd give hope to those with the dreaded seat twist problem. I guess an electrical gremlin inside changed his mind on how he wanted my seat to recline. :)

Most Likely The Cable Worked Itself Into Position Good Enough To Function Properly.

I Assure You That It Is Not A Perm Fix.

And we can assure you...the problem isn't electrical...it's mechanical. When the seat twist like yours used to be...it means the cable has disengaged from one end that goes between the motors that drive the seat's movement.

This is an oft discussed topic, and there are many references to write-ups that give instructions on how to repair this common issue. :)
