barry8108 12-18-2007, 03:16 AM there isnt much choice with the metric tires, they have never been updated since the 80's and u can get a new set of 16 inch wheel and tire set for less than a set of metric tires and they will handle and ride much better also, and when they wear out it wont cost as much to replace. id sell your wheels on ebay and switch over.
Lsixer 12-18-2007, 12:26 PM I still have mine with some michelins on them, although the tires are probably ready to be replaced. I really want to get rid of these, and I am not looking for much. I am not looking forward to packing and shipping these guys out though, its kinda a PITA. I'll also try ebay I suppose.

Well, ...... to split hairs, and since he has the 415mm rims, that size HAS been up dated. They are called TRX GT's and have both a modern compound and tread pattern, combined with what is still today the most responsive sidewall produced in a tire. It turns out that the classic Ferrari owners didn't want to give up their distinctive rims so Michelin relented and upgraded them.

Unfortunately they didn't upgrade the 390mm size so what you say about them is true and they want $356 per tire!!
I've only seen the TRX GT's at Coker Tire (http://store.coker.com/product.php?productid=18222&cat=447&page=1) and they want $408 per tire or $1632 for a set!! For that money, you can get a good set of Std. BBS rims AND tires!
Unfortunately, the money spent on the TRX rims is probably wasted, there just isn't a market for them. You might put them in the attic and in 10 years when most of the TRX's have been sold for scrap (you can get $15/rim), you might find a purest looking for original rims for the car show.

barry8108 12-19-2007, 12:52 AM good luck on the sale, for half that money i can get 16 bbs factory basketweaves that look pretty much the same from the e38 boys., id throw them on ebay and see what u can get
For less than a set of new TRX tires I got 5 16" OEM cross spokes for my M5. For a bit more I got a set of 16" staggered Alpina open lug with nearly new tires for my M635.
One day I might get a set of Coker's 415s for my original 3-piece BBS metric wheels that came with my M635. But that'll probably be the day restored M635s start fetching 6 figures at Barrett-Jackson. My 390s go on both cars when they go in for storage. When the tires go on those they'll go for scrap or make fancy hose reels.

you might be right but they're the 3 piece bbs trx that will look better then thoses basketweaves, and that are hard to clean. I can get a set for $200.00 with tires. I'm talking the real thing here for resale not a fake look of a 740I

I have a set of those 3 piece wheels as well, and I wouldn't expect them to fetch much money. Let's face it - the TRX metric sizes are basically dead, and while you might see owners of '80s Ferraris shelling out the dosh for new TRX tires, you won't see too many '80s BMW owners doing the same thing.
wokke 12-21-2007, 09:22 AM get new (or even better used) inner & outer dishes for your TRX 3-piece and make a standard rim from them. Might be worth a thought. Send me a PM if this could be of any interest for you. I may be able to help.
