View Full Version : Need to borrow SRS reset tool!
KyleAwesome 12-17-2007, 11:29 AM So about ten mins ago, while driving, all of a sudden my airbag light comes on. Having NOTHING changed from when I got in the car I figured must be something stupid. I pulled into a parking lot, turned the car off, restarted and still have the damn light on my dash.
Does anyone local have a tool? I'll drive out to where ever you are! I just dont want to be staring at ANOTHER warning light on my dash.
Thanks!

todor 12-18-2007, 08:39 PM Hey guys, I have the SRS tool. i live in capitol hill (seattle) - you're welcome to come over and use the tool. but if u don't mind, i'd like to ask for a small donation - like $10 (or a couple of beers) to offset the cost of the tool. send me a PM or email through bfc and we'll figure out the details. i'm going on vacation this saturday though, and i won't be back until jan. 6th... but i'll be in seattle until friday.
btw, the oil service reset tool is different from the SRS reset tool. for the oil service light, i just use a paperclip to connect 2 of the pins on the connector for a few seconds. do a search if u need more info. but the SRS can't be done that way.
KyleAwesome 12-18-2007, 09:37 PM Thanks everyone for the offers but everyone seems to be SO far away! :(
kosta 12-18-2007, 10:01 PM getting mine next week

DRatedA.W.D 12-20-2007, 09:19 PM Yeah, i'm gonna pick up one for the PDX Metro area. Maybe one for the oil too. I hate that inspection light.

1canned97 12-21-2007, 12:45 AM If you check the bimmer diy site you might be able to reset the srs light with a simple peice of wire, I ground the 7 pin on the diag port ot 13 seconds to reset my service/oil light check it out its pretty easy.

That works for the oil service light, but not for the SRS (there isn't an equivalent set of pins you can connect to reset the SRS light). Plus the SRS light stores a code that you'll want to know - and the only way to get it is through a dealer or the Peake SRS tool. I wish there were an easy way to reset the SRS light... but there isn't, and that's why I had to spend the big bucks on that tool (which costs about the same as going to the dealer to get it reset once... at least that's the case w/ BMW Seattle).

I'm still looking to get this taken care of and I was wondering if you ever got a reset tool? :D
H2oiamwater 03-16-2008, 09:00 PM I took mine in to get a minor thing fixed and they did it for me :)
Roth21 03-16-2008, 09:02 PM I'm in Longview, Washington and have the Peake R5 FCX-III reset scan fault tool, but I don't have the SRS one :(
98 Joes 03-16-2008, 10:37 PM I'm in Puyallup and anyone is welcome to come by and use the rest tool. I'm available most evenings and weekends with a little notice. Just shoot me a message and we can work out a time.
I have the Oil/Service light reset tool also.
KyleAwesome 03-17-2008, 10:07 AM Why are there 50 srs tools up in seattle and ZERO here in the metro? :(
thanks to everyone who offered though. I'd be using the same amount of gas driving up as I would be paying the dealer to reset it...
kosta 03-17-2008, 10:24 AM i can mail mine to you, i haven't even used it yet.
it will take 2-3 days to get there
i require:
1. paypal deposit of $120 (refunded when i get the tool back)
2. paypal payment of $17.00 ($10 for the tool, $4 to ship, and $3 for charges)
so it will cost you about $21 total after you ship it back

I'm moving to cali on saturday/sunday and I wont be back up here for atleast a month, I dont want to have worry about shipping it back, or bringing it down there to ship.
