So me and a friend got off of work and decided it would be fun to have a go at it, my car is stock besides a dirty K&N filter with no heat shield and my friend has a 1986 325 intake some kind of exhaust work and an old chip. as he pulls even with me at about 60mph i gun it, he says he wasn't ready:rolleyes but in any case i pull a good two car lengths before i slow down at about 100mph funny thing is i only down shifted to 4th and switched gears at 5k while my friend on the other hand shifted into 3rd and redlined each gear.

that would be an E. it wouldnt matter though, the M would win either way.

dont be so proud about racing an underpriveledged eta e30. if your M3 is stock, you would catch hell and back with cammed up 325i/is with a mark d chip, s50 injectors, BMP headers, SS exhaust, and 4.10 gears in it. :evil2 i have 2 buddies that have 95 m3's and neither of them can come around me if im in front of them and vice versa if they are in front of me so basically among us its a drivers race. you on the other hand just raced the wrong car with the wrong driver.

Is that really all that is needed to make a e30 325i/is as quick as a e36m? If so, I'm so gonna be on the lookout for a cheapo e30.

A car like mine would require you to take each gear to redline to beat me.

I'm sorry, but a cammed, chipped, S50 injector'd, header/exhaust E30 will still not be making more than ~ 195 bhp (28 more hp than stock). And while the 4.10 helps, your shorter gearing would also mean you're shifting earlier, which may hurt you depending on the type of run. I am pretty sure that would not be enough to take a stock E36 M3. A well-driven E30 325iS should run 0-60 in mid-7s and the 1/4 in 15.4 or so. A well-driven E36 M3 will run 0-60 in mid-5s and the 1/4 in 14.0-14.2, not to mention the S50/S52's powerband is much smoother, more linear, and has more torque throughout the revs. I don't think you're going to be getting in that range without F/I.

(FWIW, I've owned two E30s: a '91 M42 318i and a '89 325iS.)

headers and exhaust won't do much im guessing no more than 10whp injectors are only needed with cams, SC or every bolt on part imaginable and the gear ration from what i'v heard could hurt you up top. An E36 M3 could run low to mid 14s and an E30 325 rarely brake 15s infact there rated 1/4 mile is in the 16s.

Do you really think i don't know how to shift? when i had my peice of crap jetta years ago i beat a modded integra with no problems. BDW my jetta had 115 hp.
