Hmm... Will be interesting to see how Mclaren does with two young guys. I think Alonso was a huge help to the team last year, and a big reason why Hamilton had a great car to work with.

This might also not be such a smart move for Heiki... He could be forever relegated to a #2 status if he can't equal Hamilton in '08. Although I suppose #2 at Mclaren is better than #1 at Renault/Williams/RedBull :devillook

Isn't Alonso the same age as Heiki, 26?

Guess I should have said "less experienced" instead of "young".

Keeping the Finnish lineage alive, I see. Wonder if Mika Hakkinen vouched for him like he did for Kimi....

Kimi was hand picked by Schufacher. It'll be interresting to see how Keikki will run with his new teammate and if McLaren can keep up their 'no preferred status' with their homeboy and the newbie now.

BTW, McLaren is still expected to be one of the dominant cars for '08, it's still a front grid car.

I think Alonso was a huge help to the team last year, and a big reason why Hamilton had a great car to work with.

Quite contrary to what you said in that "other" 26 page thread, no? ;)

You mean where I said Alonso's experience was probably a huge help to Mclaren's '07 effort?

Or was it the part where I said you and the Queeze are absolutely clueless about the engineering & development side of motorsport...?

That would make more sense.

Good for him, I think McMerc will be one hell of a shot in the arm for his career, he is a talented driver and now we shall see what he can do with a top car!

No, that would be the part were you said you were being sarcastic about the benenifits of driver development and had some arcane BS math to boil his contribution down to 0.6%, remember?

Or was it the part where I said you and the Queeze are absolutely clueless about the engineering & development side of motorsport...?

And coming from you, that means a whole lot. Although, I don't see how this could be even remotely associated as contrary to what you posted above, but wait, unless you think making arbitrary insults help any discussion, right?

After that move I think BMW has a chance to finish above Merc this year.

Ferrari is going to pull away.

This season will be good, we will see podiums from Ferrari, Merc, BMW, Renault and maybe even a Williams or Red Bull.

I think 2008 is going to the scuderia boys again, if nothing else they have the most stable team.
