ButtonWillow Race 1 (http://blip.tv/file/533009/)

I finally was able to post up my full Race video with Data. The file is 1G, but actually loads quite fast with no pausing.

Didn't you say it was your first race? Great accident avoidance there on the start and smooth passes later in the race. I enjoyed watching it. What place did you finish in? Looks like you feel right at home on the track. I guess AutoX is a past chapter now. Plans for 08'?

Thanks for posting. Why the poor video quality and color saturation from the front facing camera?

Only other W2W race I did was in Mexico about 2 months before. Other than that it was my first CCA Club Race.

Camera quality is usually much better, issie with that one was the following. I put my good Camera in an American Iron car, cause I didn't have the right connectors to make the good one work with the PIP system. The camera that I used came out of a bag of Cameras from ChaseCam that I was Salvaging. Some had broken connectors, ripped wires etc. I testd this one at home and looked OK, but I think it had a loose wire or something, so it was NOT a Good camera. Hell it went to Black and white on Sunday.

I have new cameras now, so my next races should be Much better Quality.

AutoX is mostly behind at the point, I'll still do the BMW ones here in San Diego, they really help to keep the quick hand skills. Plans for 08 are to do as much of the West Coast Club race events as my budget can stand. I'm working on trying to bring some better sponsorship deals and I have plans for a company, that will be related to track events.

In this race I ended up 2nd in class and 11th overall, I think.

I'm going to Post sundays race with Data tomorrow. It takes a good 2 hours to post a 1gb video, but it actually seems to work!!!!!!!!!

Matt, can you please post your whole camera/data setup? I'm really interested in how you get the two camera-with-data video setup.

Thanks,
Mike

The setup that I'm running is as follows.

ChaseCam PDR for easy 1 touch recording onto Compact Flash cards
ChaseCam SS1000 that takes the 2 video inputs and splits them. With this you can do PIP or Split Screen. THe PIP can be moved to any corner on the screen and changed from 1/4 size to 1/8 size. The Split Screen can be setup either side by side or top and bottom. There are several other features, but nothing major.
2 ChaseCam Bullet Cams

For Data I'm currently using the 1st Gen G2X hooked only into Tach, I'm going to be adding TPS and probably Brake for this coming season. I may even think about steering angle.

The final Video is produced using TrackVision software to sync and overlay the Data On Top of the Video.

If you have any other video/data questions, feel free to contact me @

great driving. I agree with others, looks like you belong on the track. :)

I did notice that your car kept pushing through that low-speed left hander, I'm assuming that was 3rd gear? Never really saw it bite too well, was that the case?

Actually 2nd gear with the 3.91 gears. Yes, the low speed stuff it was a bit pushy, some of it was that I just never got is slowed down as much as it should, but the Sat race was on quite well used Toyos. Sundays race which I'm uploading video of now, was a little better on slightly newer Nittos.

Here is Sunday Nov 11ths race.

Not sure why it went to Black and white, like I said before this was a previously damaged camera, so I wasn't sure of it's functionality.

The Two guys I end up racing with are Mark Gafouri and Travis Welzien, They are an IP car and DM car, I'm JP!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the data system thats neat, but I question a lot of the other drivers skills on track. Nice driving out there, defiantly looked like you had some races under your belt.

Yeah, the Data is pretty cool, adds that extra piece of info, etc to the video. As said this was really only my second "Race" weekend. I've logged, I don't know how many hours on that track and in my car over the past 3 years, plus, nearly 15 years of AutoXing, and having grown up with parents that were Karting and AutoXing, and watching Racing on TV since it was ON TV!

wow, data is cool.....I can see how slow my 100hp car is......

looks like going thru the esses is the fastest part of the track...I think I saw 110mph..
