How badly will my performance and handling change if i go from 235s to 215s?

having auto-xed on both, I def prefer the 235 because you get much more grip. The 215 looks great, and wont really affect street handling noticeably but if you auto-x or track, go with the 235 for sure

Why would you go with the 215?

Understeer, understeer, understeer....

Keep the 235s up front!

fishforlife apparently has done a burnout in 4th with some 215`s.....his only mods are m50, custom CAI, and exhaust...

so i dunno if u want to run 215`s...though if u drive slow, and dont drive like the normal m3 driver, i think u should be fine.

Less overall grip, but the 215's will have a wider slip angle range where they produce grip (ie, a longer/smoother breakaway period).

Overall balance depends on whether you go to 215's only up front or all around. Even if you go to 215's all around, the overall tendency will be towards a little more understeer because the car won't transfer as much weight due to the lack of grip. It will power oversteer a little easier...

On the plus side, they might do better in rain/snow, and they'll get slightly better gas mileage :)
