Anyone know if the 330i with the new Performance Package will continue to be a D Stock car?

Given the number of 330s running reasonably competatively at the national level against the Type Rs, would the extra torque, big tires and firmer suspension on the PP cars make it the 'car to have'?

..or would that be the Neon SRT-4?

Thoughts welcome.

There have been no decisions about the 330iPP classing yet. The SAC is meeting tonight though.

DS I doubt it. It would probably be somewhat close of a DSP 330i.

The SRT doesn't have an LSD, so a FWD with that much power is not a threat. I bet the 330i PP stays in DS, since it is an option package and not a new model. If they prove invincible, it might get moved elsewhere for next year.

Does anyone know if the Z4 3.0i Sport has an LSD or if it uses the same DSC that the 330i PP uses?

From what I understand, it does not have the DSC, but still does okay for itself. I could be wrong, though.

Z4 does not have a LSD.

Z4: DSC yes, LSD no.

The 330i ZHP option is being seriously looked at. Problem is you usually cannot get all the specs from BMW until after it's released and dig through the parts listings (sway bar sizes, etc). One of the sticking points is that this is a $4k option that could possibly make it the car to have in DS, which if that were the case would raise the price of entry in DS way above anything else available. The other issue is the ZHP option basically makes the 330i nearly the equivalent of an E36 M3. The M3 has an LSD and the 330i doesn't, but the E46 does some things better than the E36. I wouldn't count out the idea of the option package being booted to another class, but no decision has been made yet.

FWIW, having an LSD can be a moot point if all it does is create understeer exiting the turns and you run in a competition class that prevents you from making the necessary corrections.
