i think when it gets warmer i am going to rent this tool to replace my rear subframe bushings. it beats the hell out of using a sawzall, impact chisel, or torch. anyone else need to do this as well? we can save on the costs.

nice! the price is $60/day. the more the merrier. i assume it will be a PITA for the first car but smooth sailing after that.

I could have used that tool a few months ago. Here was my subframe removal tool... :confused

the thing about your tool dan is you have to remove the subframe to use it. this other tool takes the bushing out without ever having to remove anything from the rear of the car. you just have to jack the rear end up.

i see that and i like that. i already ordered subframe bushings.... not to jump the gun or anything...

Well, that's a whole different box of crackers...:embarrasm

I had to remove the rear, since the old diff and half shafts were shot. Since it was apart, I went ahead and replaced everything.

Good luck with the tool.

are they any other better bushing other than stock ones?

you can get poly rear subframe bushings but i have heard that they really are not any better since the subframe has so little movement anyways

Yes!
There are several good vender's selling replacement bushings, just make sure to get them soft enough for street use. I noticed a good improvement going from stock to "street" urethane and surprisingly it was a noticeable improvement going to a harder durometer urethane when I turned my car into a race car. Ireland Engineering, AKG motorsport, and others sell them.

That's because whoever you have been talking to doesn't drive hard enough to know the difference... :stickoutt

what do you recommend for the street bob? i have the Ireland Engineering urethane motor mounts and i am pleased with them. are the IE subframe bushings good street/occassional autox bushings?

IE Green "street" bushings are great for auto-x and track while still being soft enough to drive on the street. I suspect the AKG motorsport "70" bushings are similar.

i only paid like 18 each for mine and im going to be as happy as can be. especially since i just spent 500 on more random parts. subframe and trailing arm bushings, control arms, treehouse racing cabs, waterpump and wires for the 320..... ill stick with my $18 subframe bushings :(

EDIT, just checked what i paid for my subframe bushings. $15.77 WOOHOO Cheap FTMFW!!!

haha no prob.

the urethane does look VERY EASY to install. i imagine that you dont need the tool/press to install the urethane mounts because they are a two-piece mount. very nice.

They go in super easy. At most a few taps with a rubber mallet.

ive been fortunate that my CV boots are still in perfect shape. they are showing some very light cracks when you push on it but its still far from bad.... or so i would like to think:stickoutt
