My dad and I are planning to go...we have been going to the US GP every year since it came to Indy and now since that is no more we decided to go to Canada next summer.

I went the the Canadian GP 4 years ago, Montreal is a really great city! There's a lot to do and see and the public transportation is great.

I've gone nearly every year that I lived in Eastern Canada. It's an awesome week to be in Montreal and I gurantee you'll love it. They go absolutely nutts for this race. Book your hotel downtown NOW :D

I'll be there! :D

And I'm going to Silverstone next season, too :redspot

Can't wait!

It's too bad they cancelled Indy. If not, that'd be 3 races in one season. I would go to Montreal, then head down to Indy the week after ... that would've been INSANE.

I'm still confused as to why they would cancel the grand prix in the US, especially with all the attraction F1 gets in this country.

If you're all going for sure then you should at least guarantee a room somewhere downtown sooner than later. you won't want to have to commute in from outside the core for this at all....trust me.

I can tell you that for me (living in Canada) i need to get special add on's to get international roaming. My phone goes to emergency only when I cross over the border....sucks. Lost my g.f in Macy's and couldn't even txt her to find out where she was :stickoutt

When I went we stayed by the airport and took the subway to the track, wasn't bad at all.

yeah that works too...I was refering to commuting by car. Public transit (as stated above) is actually pretty good in Montreal.

I went this past June and it did not surprise me that they canceled it. I had a great time and all but the turn out was really weak. Tickets were amazingly cheap too, $70 for a 3 day general admission pass.

I'm just pissed because it could've been back to back weekends of F1 for me :(

Montreal first then headed down to Indy the following weekend.

Yeah it would have been good to go to INDY but I will try to get to Canada, Motreal is a fun town. I am however going to Monoco this year which I am really looking forward to!

Monaco is a gift from my father who is picking up the tab, he is almost retired, working only 8 months a year now and he asked me if my wife and I would like to join him and my mother in Monaco for the race this year, (he has been a few times) and I am jumping on it, especially as he is picking up the tab for the trip and we will be guests of Ferrari as he is an owner/ collector. It will be one hell of a good time!

Is everyone going for all 3 days or what. We are. Maybe we can all get a big table reserved somewhere and eat dinner or lunch one of the days

At least one friend and I will be coming as well. Looks like tickets went on sale this morning, $125 for a 3-Day General Admission. Not bad.

To the OP: If you're driving from Texas, we will probably intersect at some point, we could do a caravan!

If I go it'll be for the entire week. I like to go to the Airport and watch the planes come in and unload too ;)

When do they do that.

we just booked our flights and hotel the other night though. take some pics for the rest of us. Do the drivers fly in on their own jets or do they roll with the team. What are the strategies on how to run into the drivers in restarunts and such

I went to Montreal a couple of years ago for the GP weekend. Fantastic event, the town really gets into it with the street parties and all. The one thing about the Circuit Gilles Villenuve is that you can't see much of anything at all with a general admission ticket, you really need to buy a grandstand seat ( $$$!!) if you want to see more than the top of a wing going by. For those that have been to Road America, Watkins Glen, Road Atlanta, hell , even Indy, it's just not the same... Do it, you will never regret the experience.

So of the people that have been before, do we know what the best general admission area is. Someone had mentioned that its hard to see the track.
