Hello!
New to the forum here. After many YEARS of drooling and wishing, it finally happened. I picked up my 540i. It's not new, but it's immacculate! 1997 Alpine White automatic with the beige 2 tone interior. 80K miles! I couldn't believe it. I was driving a POS 2001 Volvo S40 that I hated...spotted this thing while driving down the street and pulled in. Figured that I still wouldn't be able to afford one...turned out that my payments would only be $7 more a month. DONE!

There are a few things that need to be addressed on it, but nothing that would deter me. I have spent the better part of the night surfing this forum, the gallery, and have to say that you all have some BEAUTIFUL rides from what I see so far.

Future plans for me/mine?
front bumper upgrade - undetermined for style yet.

HID upgrade (although I'm still considering just doing the projectors with some good silverstars)

wheels. It's got the 16" with something like 20 spokes. In my oppinion just don't go with the look of the car.

I had to laugh, because when I called the wife and told her about my find and how clean it is, with the low mileage...she later told me that she was pretty much laughing it off. A 1997? C'mon, it can't be that clean.
When I got it home and she saw it, she was shocked. Now she's mad at me because I'm thinking of altering it. Says it's BEAUTIFUL the way it is.

Oh well.

I've patroned many forums over the years. This has to be one of the strictest. I'm sure that has it's pro's and cons, but that's cool. This makes 3, so I've got 7 left.

I'm still in awe over my car. Everything about it is just effortless. I do custom paint on the side, and went into Fort Collins to look at a potential project. Had my son in the back. (he's 5) I passed a car, and without thinking of it, hit the gas pretty good to go around out of habit(the old volvo was pretty gutless). The 5 lit up like crazy, and my son was giggling in the back seat, and I heard him say kind of quiet and to himself..."cool!".

All I could do is smile. ....and slow down. ;)
