Sure. We had both a 335i Sedan and a 335xi Coupe on our dyno the other day. The coupe was putting down 280 HP and 342 ft/lbs., while the sedan was putting down 306 HP and 346 ft/lbs. This was on a Dynojet 222/248 chassis roller dyno in Parker, CO at around 6700 ft. (see the link below) Mind you these were corrected factors, but I'll post up the dyno results tomorrow with corrected and uncorrected factors.

As far as other info, just search the net. BMW USA has a good review on the car, but you can always go to Car and Driver, etc. for credible reviews. I'll see if my consultant has written a review on the car yet, as he had a media car over the summer.

dude that would be sweet. my grandfather picked up a 328xi sedan over the summer, but im in love with the coupe and always have been. the thought of having a bmw "STi" coupe is very attractive. especially here in NY where u never can tell how the winters are gonna be. baasically id really like to know if the xi can handle the raod the same as the regular i.

I got the '08 335xi coupe a couple of months ago. How does the dyno test the results of the xi coupe? Does the dyno test the results only on one set of drive wheels or both sets for the xi? If the sedan were a 335xi rather than 335i, I would imagine the results would have been closer?

I think the xi would outhandle the i, particularly under less than ideal conditions. I thought about buying the i, but winters in Calgary can get pretty bad. The only advantage I see with the i is that it's a bit light (~150 lbs) and it's sportier being RWD. I didn't think there would be a HP difference, but from the dyno tests perhaps there is. You can break the traction loose and drift a little easier in the i if that's your prerogative, which may be harder to accomplish on the xi.

when you tested the coupe did it have the sport package?

So that 08 coupe was mine that MAC dyno'd the other day. I think the numbers were a bit on the high side from a corrected perspective. The uncorrected for my coupe xi was 224rwhp and 270ish tq. My buddies uncorrected numbers on the sedan i was 240rwhp and 280ish tq.

Both cars had the sport package option.

I think the notion of the AWD coupe outhandling the RWD coupe is fanciful. For openers, the AWD is heavier and does not have sport suspension (with or without ZSP) whereas all RWD coupes have this. Its weight distribution is biased to the front. Its center of gravity is higher. AWD gives it more traction for acceleration. That's the only plus.

Not entirely true, when audi introduced their awd system in motor racing it did pretty well. I think this is a preference issue...

Oh and it's better in the snow for skiing!

What exactly happened fedler? I haven't seen any errors on mine. Just love how well it did last weekend in Vail Colorado. Was a huge storm that weekend and the car was just a vessel on the snow packed mountain roads (snow tires of course). Hope things get fixed ok and soon.

After i wait a month, the car came in gave them a check, drove 3 to five mile and this yellow triangle light came on and in the navigation it said AWD and DSC malfunction, which caused the active cruise not to work. I pull over, turned the car off and had to hit the door lock which turn every thing off, unlocked the doors started the car, every thing is fine, drove 3 to 5 mile another malfunction, called the dealer they said to keep driving it and it will go out in ten minutes, it didn't. called the dealer no one would answer the phone. Did this three times drove it the rest of the way home, did notice that it wasn't as fast as the demo model i drove first. The dealer has the car now. will call on monday to see what the problem is. If anyone know what it might be - would like to hear.

I live in Lake Tahoe, and I have had my 335xi for 17 days now. we have had little snow to date, but the residual snow has left icy roads. I have the sport package as well, it does exist for the 335xi. You definately want to get the winter tires for it. I got them switched out last Thursday. Mryaken said that the Sport Bridgestone Potenzas turn into hockey pucks on the ice, and he wasn't kidding. I had a light go off a couple of times, and the car is just plain squirly on the Potenza RFT's. I got the Pirelli all season tires and a set of 18" rims to get all 4 tires down to the 225 size instead of staggering them with 255's on the rear. On snow, you want the smaller surface area. The Tire Rack is out of the Blizaaks and the Continentals for the 07/08 season. They are the preferred tires on this forum. The care became very sure footed with the Pirelli's on it, I'm happy with them for 5 whole days now, ha ha. My confidence level went up. I will let you know how the car does as the snow levels increase.
BTW, the reset for the tire presssue needs to be done when you change the tires and rims if you have the I drive system. It's annoying, and bitches at you until you reset it.

I was the guy with the 335i sedan. I tried to post the dyno results but I guess I need more posts here before I can do that. How many do I need?

Whatever man, just trying to post useful dyno information. Why don't you do something useful and offer up to post the links to our dyno sheets???
