Does anyone know if the m20 engine and trans in a 89-90 525i is the same as that in a 325i? I'm looking at this for a 2002 conversion.

I can't speak for the transmission, but the 2.5 engines on E34s through September of 1990 are the 170hp M20s just like the 325is. I know because I still own a 90 525i, and my sons shared a 88 325is.
