View Full Version : Dinan Packages for E46 M3 tlaselva 04-06-2003, 07:47 PM Several packages available. Is the HP ratings suspect for what is being done? And at what price...... ///MDriver 04-06-2003, 08:47 PM I can't wait to see how much $$$ those will set us back. The torque gains are weak, but that is nice to see someone getting some power out of the engine. stevemedina 04-06-2003, 09:27 PM Don't believe the hype....just ask the M5 guys.... SDbboy 04-06-2003, 09:43 PM He He, whats the deal with replacing the strut bar that came stock on most late model 02 and all 03 M3s. Brian stevemedina 04-06-2003, 10:21 PM I saw that too.....Marketing BS at its best.....gotta have the strut bar, for the other stuff to work.... and the Mats too....don't forget the mats... jblack 04-06-2003, 10:27 PM I would like 3.19 LSD though...... Wonder how much that will be from someone who's name is not synonomous with "BMW Price Rape" :) JMWeb 04-06-2003, 10:54 PM I have learned that Dinan is just an extension of BMW. They do nothing but tax up Stock Items. Dont believe the gains. jblack 04-07-2003, 11:06 AM I'm not a big fan of Dinan - I seem to be able to find slightly better performace at significantly better price, but there suspension, intake, chips and strut braces are definately not "taxed up stock items"; at least no more so than any other BMW tuner. There is just no way I'm going to spend $2000.00 for a new gear and pinion for my diff! Kevlar 04-07-2003, 11:27 AM DINAN items naturally cost more because of marketing and the whole warranty issue they have worked out with BMW to ease the mind of BMW enthusiasts who want 'more' but don't have the time to hassle with installing items and taking them to different places to get things fixed. With DINAN products, you take it to BMW (authorized by DINAN), BMW fixes the part and sends the bill to DINAN. It makes things much easier. Now that being said... their power gains are suspect as I've seen a few cars not make any HP or even lose some HP with DINAN mods. But again... it's the easy way to get things taken care of if they should break... granted, if DINAN does warranty the item, you'll screwed with a higher than normal repair bill due to BMW high per hour labor rate. That little "Dinan's warranty matches whatever period remains on the individual New Vehicle Limited Warranty for up to 4 years or 50,000 miles. Has always seemed a little funny to me. I wouldn't imagine Dinan would have all the necessary equipment to even service a car as well as BMW does. Authorized DINAN dealerships are just BMW dealerships who have the DINAN warranty paperwork readily available. They also have a DINAN tech support guy on speed dial if need be to explain how a DINAN part gets fitted to a particular car. Laguna01///M3 04-09-2003, 07:56 PM Just found this on the Dinan muffler. Kind've interesting. http://www.dinanbmw.com/Products/3series/m3/whitepaper_m3_E46_exhaust.pdf DriveBy 04-09-2003, 08:31 PM Looks like they are claiming the same 5-7hp gains as everyone else. They will probably want $1500+ for the can. I will go with a UUC or a used Eisen. FROM THEIR SITE: E46 M3 Exhaust Go With the Flow... If you’ve been searching for a truly high performance rear muffler for your M3, look no further than your Authorized Dinan BMW Performance Center. Dinan’s unique muffler design effectively reduces back-pressure for improved flow, resulting in measurable power gains. And from those aggressive looking ceramic-coated tips flows an exhaust note that will be music to the driving enthusiast’s ears. The Dinan exhaust delivers exactly what the M3 owner demands in a performance muffler; increased power, reduced weight, a look that means business and the throaty exhaust note you’d expect from an M3. And to ensure that the power gains are optimized, fully matched Performance Engine Software brings the engine management system “up to speed”, making sure that the M3 is getting just the right amount of fuel and ignition timing right up to the revised 8150 rpm rev-limit. M3 2 NV 04-13-2003, 04:46 PM I read that it costs $1599 for the exhaust and $499 for the mandatory software, no thanks. BMWguy206 04-13-2003, 05:34 PM BMW doesnt warranty it. Kevlar 04-18-2003, 12:11 AM Originally posted by Jon Caldito BMW doesnt warranty it. BMW sends the bill to DINAN... DINAN in turn reimburses BMW. |
