I have a question. I have H3 Xtec HID set up. Does anyone know if i wanted to buy H1 bulbs, would it plug into the H3 ballast i purchased? Or is all ballast the same no matter what type of bulb? What makes the difference in the bulbs? The way they connect/hook-up into the headlight correct and size of the bulb? Are the bulb connectors to the ballast the same no matter what size bulb it is? Or are the plug in connector(the 1 and 2) to the bulbs different to the plug connector of the ballast? (1 and 2, numbered connector)

I hope this made sense.

TIA.

The ballast should be able to be used with H1 bulbs just like it did with H3 bulbs, so you do not have to buy ballasts. The HID ballast and HID bulbs should have generic plug connectors regardless of bulb size. Hope that helps.

First of all, this isn't an OT question.

Second, I think the ballast will work fine with it, but you will need new wiring/connectors. But I could be wrong.

From the connectors on the bulbs, is it connecting to a male and female to the ballast? I swapped my bulbs before with H1 to D2S.

Ok here's a pic of what im trying to explain, and lets see if it makes sense now....Lets say the blue lines are coming from the ballast to the end of the connection with the red. And the red lines are the bulbs that run to the headlight coming from the connection from the blue. My question is, if i bought H1 HID bulbs, would it connect/plug-in with eachother evenly like how they are connected evenly now? So pretty much, are the ends of the H3 the same as the end of the H1? (the plug in part, so i can plug into the blue lines (ballast wires).

Yes, the new bulbs will work. You have standard amp connectors on the ballast. You can put whatever type of bulb you want in there.

BTW, we do have a lighting forum. :)
