BoomerDJ 12-05-2007, 02:54 AM ok so since i cant figure out how to post a poll i have to just do it this way and go off your responces. as you can see in my sig i have a set of old bbs ra's and i dunno what color to paint the centers. i know i am going to polish the lips but the centers i dont know. i will be painting my car metallic-graphite . should i paint the centers gunmetal, black, gold, entire polished, or chrome. :help
Red Ribbon Army 12-05-2007, 03:03 AM gunmetal or silver w/polished lip
320 bimmer 12-05-2007, 03:20 AM gun-metal
BoomerDJ 12-05-2007, 03:22 AM also if you have pictures of your ideas or even what you have on your car i would like to see them. i have done many searches but none seem up to date enough. also i do understand that i can not truly see the outcome, however i will take your suggestions and go into a shop and see the ideas in person
320 bimmer 12-05-2007, 03:51 AM these are mine. im in the middle of pollishing the lip now.
dblsprt68 12-05-2007, 04:12 AM gunmetal or silver w/polished lip
I agree! David :buttrockP.S When I get my BBS RA's redone, they will be black centered polished lip on a Polaris Silver car.
Red Ribbon Army 12-05-2007, 04:13 AM sorry to hijak, but 320bimmer did you pull your valance over your fenders?
todor 12-05-2007, 05:13 AM i vote for gunmetal or black

fullswing 12-05-2007, 10:37 AM i'm going to say that since the car is metallic graphite, silver would be excellent for contrast.
gunmetal wheels on a gunmetal/graphite car would be sort like a tone on tone dress shirt, tie and suit (ala regis philbin a few years back) or black rims with a black car.

no i just custom made the mounts for it then repainted it. the mounts are made from 24 gage sheet welded to a bolt.
BoomerDJ 12-05-2007, 11:48 AM what do you guys think about painting the centers the e46 m3 color, you know the like shadow color that they are
Red Ribbon Army 12-05-2007, 11:59 AM thanks a lot man 320
I think silver would be money, but do you have an example of said e46 color

i hope you can see the difference or be an unbiased eye and tell me they are the same haha
Red Ribbon Army 12-05-2007, 12:35 PM I think that the first will accent your color better than anything else.
wayfast 12-05-2007, 01:17 PM i thought gold looked awesome on your car
Red Ribbon Army 12-05-2007, 04:40 PM gold is always an awesome option for an old school car
bionicbelly 12-05-2007, 04:50 PM Gold is great.
Sorry to re-jack a thread, but 320bimmer, that is exacly what i want to do with the front end of my car. can you give details, or are there pics of this anywhere?
320 bimmer 12-05-2007, 07:47 PM yeah, gold with pollished lip would be hella nice.
bionicbelly, i don't have pics of the work i did for that, but, one of the kids at my high school decided it would be fun to jam something (not sure what, probably a rock) right through the body fill covered mesh :( so i have to redo one side, and im also putting a BBS air dam on and doing the same thing, so i can make up a DIY for it with pics and all.
but what i did was put some fine mesh behind the bigger holes and made them flush with body fill, then sanded, primed, and 2 layers of henna and one clear. luckilly my car's paint is so nice its virtually impossable to tell the difference. for the side where the bolt is i just went into my metal shop, got a piece of 24 gage sheet cut it to the right size, and welded it to a bolt (this task was a lot harder than i first expected...) then made it fit right and put a little body fill around the edge to make it a smooth transition. all in all it cost about 30 bucks.
when i get round to fixing the big ass hole thats now there ill make a DIY, it should be pretty soon, my car is currently sitting in my garage due to much needed service (injectors, sparks, everything). so i will be fixing that and putting the BBS on before i bring it back on the road.
