RandyMolson 12-05-2007, 12:54 AM Your trannies are not from 2002s, although they could be made to fit 02s. 240 Getrag is found in 1983-1985 320i - 318i: 5-speed OD 2-piece alum case Very compact, just slightly bigger than a 4-speed 318i trans has no mech speedo drive Gear ratios close to a 245/4 Weight 62 lbs The 245 is favored over the 240 for 5-speed conversions for the following reasons: 245 considered to be more durable than 240 240 has a wide spot that requires pounding out a recess in the 02 tunnel If the 240 is from an e30 rather than an e21, it has electronic speedo take-off which is not compatible with the mechanical 02 speedo. If your trannies have the mechanical speedo takeoff, they will be much more attractive to 02 owners. zracre 12-05-2007, 10:24 AM thank you for the input! I will take some more pics and post them in the classifieds. zracre 12-05-2007, 10:54 AM I cannot see the speedo drives...are they 318i units? TimNC 12-05-2007, 07:20 PM I believe what you have are E30/318 trannys which had electric speedos, not mechanical speedos. Also, the E21 and 2002 trannies have only one tail end support not two like the ones in your picturs. I am thinking you have E30/318 transmissions, which are probably not a good swap for an 02. zracre 12-06-2007, 10:24 AM Thank you for the help! |
