well the wagon died on us again this weekend. this time im pretty sure its the starter. we, of course, were stranded again. my dad had to come pick us up at 1:00 am. everything seemed like it would work out, i would just drive the e28 to work and we would have the wagon towed. i made a promise to myself that the next time the wagon needed work i was going to take it to penn auto, but there's no way thats gonna happen now.
so i go to start the e28 today, and guess what?! yep you guessed it, it wont start. i think i have had all that i can take with cars not working and breaking. i really feel like i need a vacation and a stiff drink right now.
its times like this when i really miss my M3. :(

this car does actually have a good title. it unfortunately was just not taken care of very well and now im the one picking up the pieces. i guess as my dad says, ill have a brand new car before too long if we keep replacing stuff on it. haha

If you ever decide to sell the car for dirt cheap and just simply want it out of your hands, mine tend to like to tinker with mechical stuff =P

well that actually was going to be the case. brandon and i were just so pissed off and we decided we had had enough of the bs with it.
being the female and sucker that i am, i caved. haha i had david check everything on the car. there is a huge list of things that need to be replaced on the car like the whole front suspension. the rest of it is small things here and there that will all add up to a huge chunk but in the end i will be happy.
i had a talk with my dad and he agreed to pay for it if i paid his credit card off, so things are going to work out with the car. the only things we will be stuck with are the cosmetic issues that can easily be fixed thanks to grants 3m super adhesive.
im just afraid of the price that david is going to be calling me back with tomorrow. the suspension stuff was going to be around $700 itself. eek!!
more updates tomorrow after my dad and i shit a brick from the estimate. :)

when rebuilding the front suspension is he using stock parts? you should invest in aftermarket if you are lowering the car or you will have to buy new shocks/struts again soon after you lower the car.

TechnoM3Girl

i talked to him today, the struts are being replaced with bilstein struts. those are going on the front. maybe i should have him get me some for the rear too.

am i still going to have to replace the shocks too before i put the springs on? that was my project this weekend.

well guess i wont have to worry about that dumb sunroof switch cover now. ;)

ok edit...
heres a list of stuff being replaced and/or fixed!
struts
tie rod ends
control arms
pitman rods
starter
valve cover leak
window regulator
reverse light switch
center link
thermostat housing leak
support arms

there is also an oil pan leak that i will have to address at another time.

what type of bilsteins? for lowering you should use bilstein sports. bilstein hd and touring will wear prematurely since they werent made for lowered cars.

TechnoM3Girl

crap, i just assumed that since he told me they were bilsteins that they would be sport. i guess i should ask him.

Dear sweet jebus.... that's a nice repair list. Keep good records of everything as bargaining if you ever sell the car, but if you are putting that much money into it my guess is you will want to hang onto it and enjoy it as long as possible :)

that is correct sir. i just cant seemed to stay pissed off at it now matter how hard i try. i get so angry with it when these things happen but then i take one look at it and say damn thats a cool car.
i really do love it. after this stuff is fixed then its pretty much all cosmetic after that.

We have owned our Oxford Green 525iT for 4 years & an Artic Silver one for 3 years. A fuel pump on the Green and a water pump impeller seperation on the Silver have been the only times they have stranded us. Yours should give good service when you finish the deferred maintence. Be sure you have an aluminum thermostat housing ($35). We plan to keep them a long time. Good luck!

unfortunately the PO did not do a very good job on taking care of mine. i have a lot of work to do cosmetically inside and out. the whole interior is stained beyond belief. i stopped trying to figure out how stains got where a long time ago. haha there are lots of dings and scratches on the outside too, not to mention someone dented my nose panel and ran off.

ok update...

david called today and said everything was fixed on the car, everything on the list and even a bonus. he fixed my driver seat too. i was very excited. :)

brandon and my dad went to go get the car and as brandon is getting on I-35 he says there is white smoke pouring out of the back, so much he couldnt see out of the hatch. so of course he takes it back and david later says that either the head is cracked or its the head gasket. i have been talking to grant and hes confirmed that its the headgasket.

well, im pissed.

Wow, I think I'm going to go hug my car. As buggy as it is, I haven't had a catastrophic failure yet.

ya if it smelled sweet then there is probably some issues. i would still try to make him pay for it...

Ohhh wow 0_0
I think your car needs an exorcism performed on it ot cleanse of it what evil souls may reside in it.

u cant speculate that it is just a headgasket. you will need to get a compression/leak down test done to know for sure.
