I am overall very pleased with this car. Few spots of treatable rust. But overall a very decent buy. I especially like the Porsce drivers seat. Very comfy. Tell me what you think.
Regards,
Chris
justjeffy 12-02-2007, 01:09 PM Looks real nice. Should be too big a deal to fix the trunk.
tyjoja 12-02-2007, 08:33 PM looking very good, and I'm partial to shahara beige. good luck bob
tommozza 12-03-2007, 06:03 AM Nice... any idea what the drivers seat is? Looks pretty period correct... kind of 2002 turbo-ish looking too.
sublimefan187 12-03-2007, 06:16 AM Previous owner told me it came out of a Porsce 911. I love it, it is the most comfortable chair ever. hah.

71BMW 12-03-2007, 12:23 PM Nice! What color is it?
TimNC 12-03-2007, 04:47 PM Color is Sahara (beige/tan)....I think it is a nice color, but probably the most painted over color in the history of 02s.
Chris, as information...the E21/320i sport steering wheels like the one you have there, are going for between $75 and $125 each now days, if you can find'em. Good upgrade from stock 02 steering wheels, imo. I put one on my 02 (paid $20 for it five years ago) and put one I picked up for $25 on my E12/528i (car now sold). WheelSkin sells a decent DYI black leather wrap for around $50. And black will not show dirt like the aftermarket wrap that is on the wheel now. All in all, nice looking car.

Tim,
Thanks for the info. I do love the Sahara. In another thread, I saw a pic of your '76, and found this the best of times to ask you a quickie about some hoses in the engine bay.

I have some funky looking filter coming off the "#1 Nipple" as I have annotated above, and it has tubing that runs all the way up under the car running alongside the driver side rail. I was told that I should run hose from the #1 nipple and end it on the #2 nipple annotated above. I see that you have a filter of sorts coming off #1. Can you explain this? I am still fumbling around these cars, so excuse me. ;)

Chris
kpolito99 12-04-2007, 08:58 PM Sweet looking car!
Say, are you planning to use that valve cover gasket laying on the back seat?
I need to perform a valve adjustment and I have not replaced my valve cover gasket the past few times that I have removed the cover. Might be a good idea to have one on hand.

Yea, I actually just picked that up on the way home so I could do the same. Great minds do think alike :)

sublimefan187 12-04-2007, 09:26 PM I think I answered my own question in regards to the Valve Cover Breather, and ordered a K&N one on BavuAuto, and will be deleting the Jerry Rig installed now. I also ordered a K&N Carb Filter as well. $100 well spent! Thanks for the inputs guys, keep em coming!

Chris
teutonmobile 12-04-2007, 09:45 PM That is a pre-1973 Porsche 911 seat. I am interested to see how it is mounted as I have a pair of post-73 seats in the front of my 02. If its anything as good as my seats then its a damn sight better than a standard 2002 seat!!

No doubt, and comfy too! Maybe I will take a closer look at the method of installation and post it for you.

That would be nice. I am no Porsche expert, so I dont know if the floor mounts changed with the seats in '73 but if they didn't then they are different in width as they are in length to the BMW mounts. This makes fitting the later (at least) a bit tricky - neccesitated a bracket in my case which has also added a bit of unwelcome height.
Re my interest in your mounts! Thanks
2many02s 12-05-2007, 10:24 AM you can also run the hose from the #1 to an oil catch, or under the car. that will provide a nice rust protection over the years to come, he he.

Yea, thats what I have essentially right now. But before it goes under the car, it goes through this funky filter of some sort. Its just not neat at all.
