I have light failure on the left side of my ventilation switchboard. Pulled out the following thing. What is this thing called and does anyone know where you buy replacement cards or bulbs (it doesn't look like the bulb can be replaced because it's wired to back of the card). Any help is, as always, greatly appreciated.

Go to Radio Shack and buy the replacement bulbs and solder them in. Those are going to be very hard to find as is.

Thanks Blitzed. Yeah I've got an iron to solder them on. The bulbs I was wondering about. They're pretty narrow. I'm sure some type of replacement can be found.

Volts doesn't equal watts chief (technically with a resistance or current number it does... but I'm not going to get into that). The bulb should have a wattage rating on it. And most things in cars run on 12v.

You sure the bulb doesn't just slide out of a socket like the instrument cluster bulbs? No one sells a replacement bulb? If the bulb really is soldered directly to a board that is retarded.

I'm glad I have an '81 and not a '79.

+1, I would think you can pull the bulb out from the black plasting housing just like on the instrument panel, the hazard switch and the defrost switch.

Available at the dealer--it may take about a week to get them as they would likely have to order it. Replace all the lights that are in that vicinity at the same time so you wouldn't have to pull out the dash again.

They sell them at any auto store. They are also allot brighter then that 30 year old bulb.

Called up a local dealer. No light panel in the US, or Germany, or anywhere else on the planet. what the **** ?

did you figure out the watts for that bulb? that bulb base is very common so if you know the watts you can get it anywhere. might be a little different shape or size but its a common base. you can usually go up a few watts also before anything starts getting to hot

dude, you don't need to replace the panel.

Go to autozone. Find the bulb that looks like the one in your hand. Slide it into the socket. :confused

bulb and socket soldered on there. there's no buying another bulb. you have to buy the bulb/socket and solder it on or buy another panel

Close (excuse The Caps):
Just Bought The Panel. It's Only 15 Bucks From Germany. Yeah, I'm Not Going To Go To The Trouble Of Wading Through A Junkyard Or Trying To Solder Something On That Might Or Might Not Work When They Have The Panels For Sale As Whole Units.
