does anyone know what model years of the 2002 series, took the same gas tanks and same sender unit? I need a sender for a 74, and didn't know which years took same part number.......thanks.

The gas tank in the square tail-light cars is a little larger than the 46 liter one in round taillight '02s. However, it is easy to install the larger tank in a round taillights 2002. I did this when I replaced the original tank in my 1971 fourteen years ago.

chris, if sender for gas gauge is working, in good condition, let me know. I have heard they are fragile, with some kind of filiment wire inside, have to make sure not damaged in shipment. Get back to me.
thanks, kenzoil

Kenzoil,

I will try and get out there today. It definitely worked when I parked it a while back. I would be willing to refund you if it did not work as designed once installed. Looking foward to wheeling and dealing with you. Or if you have a funky way of checking functionality without physically installing it, I would be happy to do just that before shipment.

Chris

Chris, if you turn the key on and the gauge registers, then it works. The only problem is in shipment, that the fine wire that runs inside doesn't get josseled (?) around in shipment. See if you can keep the rubber ring gasket in good shape also, I'll need that. Let me know........wheel and deal. Might be other parts I would be interested in. Where are you out of?

Kenzoil,

Sorry for the untimely responses. I have had a work schedule that would make Bill Gates seem like a couch junkie. I have not forgotten about you. Give me a day or two, tommorrow is indeed the weekend (TGIF), and I will check it. No worries.

Chris

It's true. The later cars had deeper tanks and different sending units. I have a nice late tank and sending unit but, shipping might be expensive from OH.

to last reply, I just need a good clean working sender, my tank is fine. My zip is 06424, could you get a price with shipping, if Chris's unit doesn't work out? My car is a 1974, so I need one for that model year.
thanks, Ken

Honestly,I wouldn't sell the sender w/o the tank or vice-versa. Good-luck though

chris, when you say trashed, do you mean completely shot, rusty etc?

Ken, it has a break in the line where it was "lighty shoved" into a box, heh. Like I said, sorry to keep you waiting. I am always busy, but never seem to get anything done... Cheers.

Chris, thanks for taking to time to check, keep me in mind for other parts from this 74 you are parting. What kind of rims/wheels did it have on it?
