I was wondering if any of yall have had any problems with your car not starting up after sitting outside in the cold?

I got out of work today, got into my car, and it wouldn't start. Lights are all on, radio is playing, but the engine won't turn over. So I go back and disconnect the negtive terminal for 30 seconds, reconnect and the car starts up 1st try.

Just wondering if any of yall have had any kind of similar problem.

I used to have that problem.
But then... I used to live in northern Michigan where it used to be -20*. I also used to drive a 17 year-old rustang...

Battery, battery cables, charging syste. In that order.

Is it SMG? If so, I have had a problem with SMG not wanting to start about every three months. It won't go into "O" or "N". Pumping the brake pedal solves it.

Thanks cwaters I'll look into those. The battery is only a year old so hopefully it's not dead that quick.

FL410- no it's 6 speed. it hasn't happened again so hopefully it's just a one time thing.

Thanks for the replies

I've been having a similar problem. When I cold crank my car, it almost stalls out and then has an erratic/rough idle until it's at normal operating temp. Don't know what the problem is, but I do know it's pissing me off.

I believe there was a bulletin that requires programming to fix that problem.

I had a problem with my e46 last year. After sitting outside in below freezing temps, car would not start. After a few more attempts, it started but went into limp mode.

Had to get her towed to the dealer. Dealer said it was 2 coil packs that went bad. Replaced those under warranty (whew!)
