Is there a write up for this?

The tensioner is different than your usual 3 series and I am unable to figure out how to replace it.

Obviously it is only 2 bolts but it is really tight and some help would be appreciated.

I am looking for the DIY for the shock looking tensioner. (hydrolic iirc)

Search has nothing, other various websites.. nothing!

Thanks again bf.c

It is pretty simple but quite weird because the tension between AC & water tensioner's part numbers are different and their tensions are also different.

Just removed the belt using pulley- push down. See Bentley Manual or DIY belt replacement.

Release 3 bolts. One bolt is hiding back.

After removed unit, one bolt holding tensioner and remove it from bottom of tensioner. Open the rubber seal(open from bottom) and fill with brake fluid. Don't forget to grease inside of tensioner rod. There are two bearings inner and outer. They are usually rusted and dried.

Test the tensioner whether it is push down and come back up. Put it back in as original assembly.

Don't forget to re-grease the pulley bearing too. If you re-grease all the pulleys, it will make your engine quieter including AC bearing.

So on the tensioner strut you say to lift back that rubber and pour in brake fluid?

I replaced mine and after a few k miles it is squeeky again.

This time I can not tell if it is coming from the main tensioner or the AC.

What grease did you use to grease everthing up?

Can you go into more detail for us all?
