My buddy just bought an 89 535. The car is a mixed blessing:

1) DINAN Exhaust
2) DINAN Chip
3) Eibach (sp?) springs,struts
4) Beyern 18" Mesh wheels
5) Excellent newer black paint job (I mean it is a nice paint job!)

However, the car was originally silver on navy and the front seats were replaced by cheap aftermarkets and the rear seat is shot and the door panels need help too. The dash is good though!

How would you guys go about fixing up the interior? The seller included the original seats but the driver seat had the broken frame thingy going on. How difficult might it be to find a used E34 interior this color?

Thx, Steve

It would probably be rather difficult to find a navy-blue interior (wasn't very popular in the US; only person on this board I know of who has one is Antrieb). However, you could probably buy a complete set of light-grey or tan seats (should be around $700 or so) and dye them blue using leatherique or a similar product.

As for the door panels, I assume they're peeling? This is a pretty common E34 problem and is probably best handled by simply gluing them back in place.

Dang, followed the below thread and the car was crushed recently.

ha.. didn't even read that. You can usually find a parts car for $1000-1500 and and swap the whole interior. Part out the rest of the car and make some $$ back.

Of all the interior colors that should be the cheapest to replace. ;)

If your E34 door panels are bubbleing up the only solution I know of is new panels. I took mine to 2 trim shops who both said they had tried to repair them in the past with no luck. The vinal is vacuum formed to the panel and shrinks over time. New panels from BMW are $600.00 Ouch!

pics of panels?

if the leather strip (?) is peeling back, take the door panels off and sparingly apply guerrilla glue.

Dependin on the severity of the interior damage, Id just say fing a cheep parts car. any model e34 will work.

use gorilla glue on the door panels, im in the process of doing it now, and it works very well.

Diamond tuck & roll the whole interior in red vinyl with shag carpet for the floors and rear deck.

Gorilla takes too long..I use a two part marine glue that sets up in a few minutes and is water clean up.

If the bubbling is real bad you can release some of it by cutting the skin under the insert to allow slack to glue to skin back into the contours
