1) $1200 is typical for a dealer in the city. A dealer in a more rural area will charge $650.

2) You can have any good mechanic do this, you do NOT need it to be a BMW dealer.

Here is the official list (this is the 5th time I have posted this list on this forum....so you really need to do more searching).

And when would these scheduled "full" services be required/recommended?

I do not have an e46, but am considering an '02 330ci at the moment. It has about 71k miles, and has not yet had its timing belt/water pump/tensioner (if these are done at the same time generally for BMWs). It is a one-owner car, with, according to CARFAX at least, no issues at all, including accidents. I have not yet seen the car in person (owner's busy new year schedule), but pictures seem to indicate a clean car. According to the owner, the driver's side window is acting up (probably a regulator), the latest required oil change is late by 600 miles, and the brake pad light is on, although he doesn't seem to think that there should be anything wrong with the brakes given that they are "only" about 20k miles old.

He is a relatively wealthy guy (lives in Beverly Hills), and wants as little fuss/hassle as possible; ergo, he is not a terribly "motivated" seller. He says he hasn't kept service records (and he didn't make the effort to give me a brief oral rundown), and simply referred me to the Beverly Hills BMW service department.

So, I neither know when either/any of these services were done nor even when they are supposed to be done (again, as I am not a current BMW owner).

Can someone please give me an idea of what things (routine maintenance) should have been performed on the car by this point?

Thanks in advance.

If all the service was done at a dealer you can contact them and ask to lookup the service records if you have the VIN.
