Someone is going to have to engineer that booger into an 02. I doubt you'll see it for a while. M 42/44. I bet those start showing up much sooner.

Hmmmmm, I think there are a few engine I would swap in before that 2.8 but if I had one laying around and if I had my own shop I would not be opposed to working on that

2.8 and 3.0 are aluminum block = very good for 2002. With money, these engines can be made to spank the honky tonk iron block S52/54. That is all. The rest can be found doing a simple search here.
