Yay it's maintanence time again, and as a personal ritual that means my car needs a treat too. I want to make it handle more capaple. Currently the car has H&R springs , Bilstein shocks, Kmac front camber plates, urethane sway bar and stabilizer bushings, EBC greenstuff brake pads, crossdrilled rotors, staggered M parralels with 235/40-18 and 265/35-18 goodyear eagle f1 rubber and the alignment is set to the specs of a e34 m5 (bentley numbers). What i would like is input on the next great mod and what better place to get ideas but from owners of similar art work. any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Maybe polyurethane CA bushings

Thats something to consider, i checked bav auto and they dont show aluminum front controls with the urethane bushings, they only show the steel control arms, mine are aluminum. i probably should put some effort into the rear control arms and maybe even the rear sub mounts...although i heard the rear sub is a pita

You've got all that and you still want a handling upgrade? Um...coilovers, strut bar, and lightweight parts (CF bodypanels, lightweight seats, missing seats...) are about all I can think of. Depending on your idea of an upgrade, I could also suggest an M5 steering gearbox, yet wider tires, and if you've got more money or time than you know what to do with, some sort of rack/pinion steering assembly (I've never heard of one on an E34, so probably custom-built or modified from some other car, probably an E30). I'm personally quite curious about the latter, so if you know or find out anything, keep us posted.

Search for something like "how to make a stock Sentra run 11's without spending any money" for a few more suggestions...:stickoutt I'll try to find the link in the meantime.

I just got the poly bushings from bav and they seem to make a little difference...really really slight at least they're more durable so I wont have to worry about the 55mph shake. also bav has their own brand and then the other blue poly bushings. does the aluminum-vs-steel make any difference?

also arent the M pars a tad on the heavy side? check out some light weight wheels like Fikse or OZ

A sway bar kit would help a TON. Racing Dynamics makes a pretty beefy kit. It would sort of defeat the purpose of having those OEM spec urethane bushings though, since you get brand new urethane bushings with the kit, but I would definitely recommend that as an upgrade.

Maybe an aluminum strut brace?

Moroza's ideas were clever, give some of those a shot.

The only upgrade I can think of that you failed to mention is...

DRIVING SCHOOL! ROFL!

Well Moroza I am not real shure how to react to your suggestions but i appreciate your input. I do have the steering box still on the wrecked 87 or 88 m6 i have considered checking it for fittment or if it would be an improvement. weight reduction is out of the question as this is my daily driver, I already have a hot rod that is hot noisy, smelly , cant turn a corner real well scares children and runs in the tens...through the mufflers.

Driving school is never a bad idea, The ones that dont think they need it are often the ones that need it the most. and yes the M parrallels are heavy...but i love the look of them. A full urethane kit isnt a bad idea though

Is the M6's box a rack or recirc-ball? Either way, I'm definitely interested to see if it'll fit.

A CF hood? Don't know how much it'll help, but I don't see daily drivability sacrificed in the least bit because of one.

Lighter exhaust?

(to post pics, click on "Go Advanced" when replying, and click on "Manage Attachments", or something like that. It should be self-explanatory. You're limited to 150k, so BMP's won't work, but PNG and JPG usually fit).

Now lighter exhuast is one i didnt think of..damn good idea. I have a BMP replacement on the car, less than a year old the exhuast is real heavy and i'll bet rather restrictive..it might help work on the cars other issue (slow takeoff). I am not shure what type of box the M6 has...wondering if i have pics of that section of the car

Nice! I particularly like the missing bonnet, bent bumper, oversized tires, and what looks like a list to starboard.

the Driveway leans moroza, the bumper is bent and it has battle scars, the car is not pretty i'll admit. it does have a hood (pin on) and runs mid tens the car is a bottle rocket. sorry if it dissapoints you

I think you misunderstood - I wasn't being sarcastic when I said "nice". It's not a cleaned up E34, certainly, but it's attractive in its own way, and that goes for looks as well as ridiculous performance. Is it a dedicated dragracer or just a souped-up musclecar?

black535

it is sorta just a hot rod, hard to define its built more like a dragster and that is what it does best, but i drive it on the street occasionally. street use the hood (bonnet) stays off as it runs warm in traffic. if street only i would clean it up but track use is rather abusive. i use nos to run those times to avoid making the engine less streetable. it is scarred but its the most fun iv'e had with my clothes on

Methinks the car's fast enough that this is an unnecessary restriction. :devillook
