This might sound a bit crazy but it worked on my e30. Try bleeding slave cylinder while car is running,.....yes,running!! I was bleeding my clutch after replacing master cylinder and the clutch wouldn't stiffen up at all.Push it down, and it wouldn't come back up. I started the car up,jacked up the driver side enough to have ample room and re-bled slave, and it actually worked!! Clutch peddle was nice and firm. I replaced the slave on my e12 some years ago, but can't remember if i did it the same way! Put it this way it wouldn't hurt to try,...just don't drop your car on your head!!

either you still have air in the system and need to bleed it more or it's the master. if it's the original master, the seals on the piston should be worn out by now.

ok...found sumthing else out....there is a little rubber "gasket" on top of the brake/clutch resovour, and its leaking from the edges......could this cause the problem?
