I'm new to the forum and looking for some reliable info regarding fixing up a 533i.
Last year I picked up the car from a college kid, got it off his old man, trading for a rice rocket.
$1000.00 later the car and 23 years worth of service records are mine.
The old man kept everything tight on the car but I would like to give it a little TLC and restore it to its former glory.
The thing really is an absolute dream on the highway.
I picked up a new set of Beyern 17x8 rims with high performance rubber just to get away from the hassle of the notorious factory TRX rims the old man was still faithful to, and after a year of daily driving the new rims and rubber and other minor maintenance, I couldn't be happier with the idea of dropping more cash into this car.
I can't say enough about the handling and response of this little car.
Anyway, all I can seem to locate are ebay and Bavauto for most parts and am hoping some of you kind people can point me in a new direction.
For starters, I know the M5 of the following year was roughly a 100 hp higher and while my hopes are not that high, i'm curious how I can taste a bit of that without a full engine swap.
The 533 motor is still very strong, I just want to know some of the most common mods used to increase performance without completely molesting the original package.
I'm here to learn so any help is appreciated.
