Recommendations for lightweight low profile racing jack? Somewhere between $100-$200, 1.5 to 2 tons....?

i love my craftsman aluminum low profile jack. fits under my car well and has the fast raise feature(i don't know what its really called but you dont have to pump it a bazillion times to make it go up if there isnt weight no it... just once.) it is also relatively light for how large it is. Plus since it is so low you can put it against the front of the garage and actually park over it. the other nice thing about it is the jack point is pretty large so its hard to damage anything if you jack up in the wrong spot

Price 120 after tax
max weight 1.5 ton

I have a standard Craftsman 3-ton floor jack here:

DAMN IT, I STILL CAN'T POST LINKS OR PICTURES!

It is currently $99 and comes with two jack stands and a creeper, a pretty good deal if you don't mind the extra weight of the steel frame. Why do you specifically need a "racing" jack anyways? What makes a racing jack different form a standard floor jack? The only differences I can think of are having to use only a few pumps of the handle to get to full height and a quick hydraulic release.

Rugger, where'd you get...Sears?

Racing jack for weight partly and though my car isn't dropped to the ground, I'd like to have the ability for really lowered cars (Jeds, etc) so I can help my BMMMOFO brethren.

I really want less pumps, good heighth and one that won't start leaking fluid after a year.

My steel Sears Craftsman, the one I was talking about that's $99 w/ creeper and 2 jackstands works just fine with my Elise although I use a small rubber pad on the cup of the jack to distribute the load more evenly. If you have more money to spend, I would go with the aluminum one, but for $30 cheaper right now, I think it's hard to pass on also getting the two jack stands included with a creeper thrown in which is especially nice at apartment complex parking lots.

If you don't want it to leak don't get the aluminum craftsman. My old roommate is one his 3rd one in less than 2 years. After the 1st one started leaking he did some research on the internet and found out that a lot of people are having trouble with that one. Sears knows all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of shit. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for now, for your sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from someone else.

I can't fit a racing jack under my car.. lol. And it's on stock suspension. One little part of my racing jack clips my front bumper unless I drive the front end up about 1.5".

I've read many people having the same problem as M3 Muscle points out with the Craftsman Alum jacks.

The guys at vorshlag did a good writeup on jacks if you haven't already purchased one.

HA! HA! As my sig states, pic is pre drop....pic provided, but it's not very good...all mine are more than the 150k max. Dropped about 1 1/2 inch; not slammed by far, but didn't want to drop too much with the 255s on the rear....anyway, like I said before, I want to be able to use jack for my MoFo buds too.

Harbor Freight. That's where Jed got his, and it is nice.

Yeah, I looked at the HF, but Jed also said it was "OK", but wouldn't necessarily recommend.

Anyway, mommy tells me she already picked one and ordered it....so there's no more ideas I can give her.....hopefully she did the research better than me!

i like mine and i think according to the article, it got a good rating. whoever used it (or combination of people) at one of the project days messed it up. and i need to add hydraulic fluid. other than that it is good. i do plan on getting a better one and using my U.S. General one as my secondary jack. the one that Pelican Parts sells looks really nice but it is pricey.

Check out that article and also search the track forum. There's a HUGE thread about jacks if you haven't purchased yet.
