View Full Version : Crased M. Best bet at this point??.. All opinions welcome.
Double Vanos 11-21-2007, 10:32 AM last night i put it into a guardrail...
next step..
the car is now sitting in my driveway and im not sure on what i want to do with it. do i sell it, part it etc.. also there is no police report, should i bother getting one and is it worth it to go thru insurance?
the damage is on the front right(if sitting in car). the damage is extensive but the engine and what not are still working and it still starts. the suspension took a nice hit as well as the fender. also the airbags are still intact.
any opinions will be helpful..
uconnr 11-21-2007, 11:18 AM If you have collision coverage go through insurance.

magnetic1 11-21-2007, 01:46 PM If the front frame rail is bent, it could be totalled. If so, find out how much the buyback is.
eeeks 11-21-2007, 01:59 PM police report and insurance.
what happened?
e36HellRot 11-21-2007, 04:26 PM "well it jumped in front of me out of no where. I jammed on the brakes but by that time the deer was on the hood. I was a bit shaken up but i was o.k. I went to check on the deer but amazingly he got up and ran off. isn't that crazy officer?"
I actually had a deer run into the side of my truck. dumb things. my trucks loud as hell between the tires and exhaust, how he didnt know i was there is beyond me.

its like u were there.:D
bimrup 11-22-2007, 12:22 AM Hope your kidding about trying to pass that one off as a deer hit, some ins adjusters aren't that bright but come on. Any way as a previous post said if there is frame involvement you may be looking at a total loss. But if the buyback is low enough it might be worth your while to buy it back, pull the drivetrain and sell it to help recoop your loss. Good luck, and if it is a total, get your paperwork in order to help establish a fair value for the car.

snikwad 11-22-2007, 07:45 AM what paperwork u talking about?
the police report.
insurance usually wont fux with a collision without one.
but you could always try, and tell em you drove it home, but if you do that, your 100% sure youre gonna get hit with a single car/at fault accident payout on your record, and your premiums will climb significantly.

twhlax3 11-22-2007, 03:52 PM you dont need a police report. that sucker looks like a total to me.
good thing you swerved and missed the deer or else there would have been blood and hair all over your car.

i would just incase they ask for it.
insurance companies are strange people.
if you can do it without a report, thats fine, but id have one just incase, it'd save time.
Art Heritis 11-24-2007, 10:21 AM It looks like a total hassle to me. A hassle you don't want. I'll stop by tommorrow to take it off your hands. Noon sound good??
Call the insurance company, explain it & see if they want a police report.
bimmerdriver99 11-24-2007, 10:27 AM Yeah it looks pretty bad. I had a similar accident and it cost about 7.5k to fix and it wasn't even as bad as that. Yours looks more "crumbled" is the word.
