For the general education part of school UTI is better. One of the pain problems is that wyotech is too short. Even the instructors said some of the information is not as detailed as it can be and is covered too fast. Do make sure you go to a campus where they worked out all of their bugs. My W.Sac campus had too much miscommunication and some of the instructors were the type that would read the book that was about it. They couldnt really expain much. Maybe they lacked teaching skills or didn't know what they were talking about or both. As far as the test, if you can read you can pass it. Probably the best thing I can recommend is: what you put into it is what you get. I could have done better than I did and its kicking my ass. I have to work harder now to make up for it and not to make the same mistakes again. -Serge kellie 11-21-2007, 01:23 AM There was an entrance exam? I remember taking a test that just covered general ed. stuff like basic math. I think it's just to make sure you don't have any learning disabilities. I went to Wyotech Fremont, I loved it, and I highly recommend it. It got me all 8 ASE certs plus L1, and a job with BMW as a tech, so I have no complaints. I'm sure UTI is a great school, but I think Wyotech and UTI are pretty comparable. atomiccobra 11-21-2007, 11:24 AM There was an entrance exam? But anways get into a little detail when you say basic math, what kind of math is that, and is there any english or anything else on it? Sorry I just need to know cause im pretty stupid and would like to pass ;) Krank 11-21-2007, 03:31 PM Probably the best thing I can recommend is: what you put into it is what you get. I've been there... kellie 11-22-2007, 01:33 AM Yeah I plan to get into step afterwards and work as a bmw tech. There are some huge MORONS at Wyotech, so if they could pass it, you can too. atomiccobra 11-23-2007, 11:25 AM If you passed elementary school, you will pass. There are some huge MORONS at Wyotech, so if they could pass it, you can too. You just made my confidence jump wayyy up, I'll let you know how I do :) I thought the test was about what you should of learned in High School though, which is what made me a bit worried as I didnt really attend much high school :/ e30nate 11-23-2007, 01:50 PM they had the same sort of test at uti. you only had to get 12 out of 30 right to pass. atomiccobra 11-28-2007, 02:14 PM If you passed elementary school, you will pass. Kellie when you said "if you pssed elementary school you will pass" I kept thinking that in my head, but I assumed you were exaggerating how easy it will be, aparently not, this is like 1st grade work only easier... HellrotZ 11-28-2007, 02:50 PM the De Anza auto program is very good as well...... e30nate 11-28-2007, 03:35 PM good luck at wyotech. im not bashing wyotech or anything, but at UTI there are about five people i know of that quite there because they didnt like it. B Rod SRT 11-28-2007, 04:29 PM the De Anza auto program is very good as well...... Thank you. Im going to De Anza Auto Tech night classes. If you get a degree or certified at De Anza, you are pretty much guarrenteed a job. It is one of the most highly regarded auto programs around. And you dont have to pay $30k a year to share 2 lifts with a class of 30. kellie 11-28-2007, 11:13 PM 2+2= A. 50 B. 90 C. 4 D. 1,000,000 Wow that was the easiest test ever... Yeah, I think the only reason they do it is to make sure you don't have any learning disabilities. Some people actually don't pass though. Anyway, nice job. I loved Wyotech, I think it was worth every penny, hopefully you will too. fanofbimmers 11-29-2007, 01:19 AM UTI and Wyotech I think is the same. Overall length of Wyotech is 9 months and UTI is 15 months. But the hours for Wyotech is around 10 hours a day while UTI is half of that. I think UTI is geared towards people looking to become techs while Wyotech is more towards the custom, or performance kinds of jobs. UTI does have the hot rod lecture and the tuner lectures(part of the general class) but those things are covered for a week I think. While Wyotech has classes on chassis fab, upholstery, engine management, street rod, etc. which are 3 months long. e30nate 11-29-2007, 02:10 AM UTI and Wyotech I think is the same. Hot Rod and Super street are both three week long classes, and there are two hot rod classes. the reason they dont have chassis fab or upholstry is because they also have a collision and custom fab coarse that is seperate. kellie 11-29-2007, 10:53 AM UTI and Wyotech I think is the same. UTI and Wyotech's actual automotive courses are comparable. Wyotech Fremont only has automotive, motorcycle, and HVAC/plumbing on their campus, it isn't geared toward performance or fabrication at all, but that is what you see in the brochures and commercials, you're right. e30nate 11-29-2007, 12:34 PM Eh...not really.
