Just got rid of my 2007 Altima 3.5SL for a 2002 M3. Best decision I've made in a while. I loved the Altima but I wanted something more than just a daily driver.

Now, concerning sound. Going from a BOSE soundsystem to BMW's is a huge step backwards. Is getting the BSW speakers a good move or should I get some aftermarkets installed?

Thanks.

Are they harman kardon??? If so I think they sound awesome. Are you looking for bump or a full rich sound??? I presonally am not a fan of the bump.

I want a little bump, but I like to be able to hear good quality sound. Yeah, they are the H/K's. It just doesn't sound as clear and crisp even on the mids and highs as the BOSE system did and the lows sound distorted to me. Don't want to get rid of the deck if I don't have to since the more stock it looks the more thiefs in my area will stay away from it.

Yeah the factory H/K, even with the upgraded Premium Sound package is subpar. There are lots of complaints about it.

I remember my E60 that I sold had a better stock system (non-H/K) than my current H/K on my E46.

I went from a '05 Altima to the M aswell... they were great grocery getters... I have the HK w/ sub in my car and I hate it....

I have HK, as well. It's somewhat disappointing if you're coming from anything but an American or Japanese econobox. I cannot imagine how the non-H/Ks sound.

Well the distortion can fixed by tightening the rear deck some how or placing some of the dynomat stuff in there. The only distortion I ever have is some rattle from the rear deck. I personally like the H/K system but maybe that is because I really dont have anything to compare it with. On the other hand, I didn't buy my M3 for the way the audio sounds. I have my windows craked and the radio off when I am driving around.

Nothing beats the sound of the exhaust and just general road and driving noises. I bought the car for its abilities on the road. Again, I have nothing to compare it to so I probably don't have a good idea of what a good audio system sounds like. Good luck finding what you want.

At lower RPMs IMHO the E46 M3 exhaust is rather weak-sounding. I wish it sounded like a beefed-up E36 M3 exhaust, but alas, we can't have everything. And the car is perfect in 99% of ways. :)

At high RPMs the car sounds like a true BMW I6... very nice.
