View Full Version : Wheel Powdercoating in Socal, anyone know of a good place?
m3mobbin 11-20-2007, 03:31 AM Hey guys, I have 2 sets of wheels I need to have powdercoated. I already have a place that strips them for next to nothing but all the powdercoaters I have experience with either do half ass work or are really far away (Al Rieds, which has a good reputation, is in Irvine and has a slow turnover). I'm looking for quality work since the wheels are SSRs and Rays Engineering. Thanks for your help!
psk145 11-20-2007, 01:13 PM I've used olympic powerdcoating before, and they did a pretty good job.

m3mobbin 11-21-2007, 01:25 AM Thanks for the idea, I have the M calipers sitting around before they go on the Ti, I was going to spray them with hi-temp but I think I'll just get them p-coated along with the wheels.

if you're going to do them in silver, I'll sell you mine for whatever it would have cost you to get them coated if you're interested. they've been sitting around forever and I completely forgot about them
m3mobbin 11-21-2007, 02:28 PM I'm probably going to do them in red, but I'm going to grind/hand file the calipers to smooth out all the casting roughness before they get powder coated to make them more glossy. Thanks for the offer!

Thats a good idea. I never would have thought to do that.

Yep, I was going to suggest Al Reed, good work, good price, but turnaround not good. Where are getting them stripped for cheap?
JETninja 11-21-2007, 09:41 PM Wouldn't the PC shop strip them?
Anyone got a link for the slow Irvine shop? (Irvine is close and I'm thinking maybe doing it over the holidays)
m3mobbin 11-24-2007, 01:37 PM Some shops have sand or bead blasting booths, some don't. Boltons classics is where i get my wheels stripped for a good price.
I don't think Al Reeds has a website but here is thier contact info:
