Thanks!

Only place I know of is in West Jersey in Roxbury. It's a small Sunoco station on Hwy.46 and Howard Blvd. I also think there is a Sunoco in Jersey City, I can't remember the street but it's not to far from the new hospital and the Liberty Science Center. If you are familiar with JC it is the street that intersects Communipaw at the last stop light b4 you head to the Science Center. Hope that helps

Thanks! I'll check the one in Jersey City out. If they have it, that will be the best location for me to get it.

Edit: Just called the one on Communipaw, they don't have 100 octane.

probably cause that is ridiculously expensive.. the 5 gal can at the honda is $55 with tax. and at the sunoco is under $7/gal right now.

Is there any store near there that has a physical address that I can input into my Nav? I will be going from Jersey City, if that helps.

Thanks!

It's called wit (notice the smiley face). We know Shakespeare said, "Brevity is the soul of wit"...so speed it up (and you'll get things the first time, faster etc).

shakespeare and race gas, way to stay on topic...

anyway to the original poster, if you want leaded c16 i know a guy in Jersey city that can help with that. if you want unleaded then you will have to either drive out this way or try the fort lee place. also you can look up the gas stations that carry it on the sunoco web site.

Thanks! I'm going to give the Sunoco on 46 before the GWB a shot first. And if not, then I'll try and think of another alternative.

Thank you for your tremendous help! I really appreciate it!

Hopefully, I will find what I am looking for soon! I will also post my results and maybe start a stickie on where to get 100 octane with addresses for the tri-state area.

I see that you are on bimmerforums too, huh? lol!

I remember that there use to be a gas station on Northern Blvd. in Queens a long time ago. It's near Galaxy, if you know where that is. If I'm around there the next time, I'll probably go and check it out myself to see if they have any. But if the one by the GWB has it, then that is not that far from you either.

Will definitely keep everybody updated.

now that you have the info you needed i hope there is a reason for the 100 octane other then just to do it. it is an expensive lesson for most to realize that it will actually slow your car down if not tuned for it.

lol, I'm everywhere like a ninja hehe

I heard about that place on Northern blvd I just don't know where that is. Is that gas station by GWB on NY side or NJ side? if I have to pay for toll and it really doesn't make sense...

I have this place on LI, about 20-25 minutes from me but they sell it for 8.50 a gal.
If you could find an address to that place on Northern blvd I could go check it out and let you know as I probably live closer :D

All gasoline, regardless of its’ octane rating, have pretty much the same amount of potential energy per gallon.
Octane is NOT a measure of power but of the fuels’ resistance to ignition from heat. A higher-octane fuel, under identical combustion chamber conditions, will burn slower. The higher the octane number, the more energy it takes to ignite the gas.
If you are getting pinging or knocking with what should be the correct octane for your engine, start by checking the ignition timing, also check that the spark plug is the correct heat range. excessive carbon build-up on the top of the piston can possibly cause the need for a little higher octane, the carbon takes up space and increases the compression ratio.

If all is well and correct, and you still are getting knocking, then try the next higher octane. You won’t go faster, you won’t go farther, but you will prevent a hole in your piston.

Just putting in 100 octane fuel will NOT make your car faster (unless your engine is specifically designed for it). For all your buddies who tell you that their cars have way more power with 100 octane gas,I have one word for them, PLACEBO. Their cars may run a little better because of the better cleaning properties of the higher end gasolines but as for adding more horsepower over what the engine will put out as designed, Nope.

Chances are the only thing you are doing with 100 octane gas is putting more money in the oil companies pockets. Just my $.02 or maybe $.10

i agree with about 95% of that, it may be small but lower octane does have a higher energy thus the burning faster.

if you change nothing on your car (i.e. timing or boost) then the 100 octane will most certainly slow a car down. the reason some cars react "well" to the higher octane fuel is cause most of those cars are tuned to the ragged edge and sometimes can either knock or the knock sensor pulls the timing. with the race gas the knock goes away and the full timing can be used so the car in effect is having it's timing raised in a way.

lol!

Let me just tell you the reason why I am looking for 100 octane.

I have a piggyback on my car and I got a new race map for it that requires 96 octane or above. I was told to put in 1/2 tank of 93 and 1/2 tank of 100 to make 96 octane.

That's why I'm looking for 100 octane. I'm not just trying to get it because I think it will make my car faster. I have a tune for it and I know what I'm doing. lol!

Thanks for your help, guys! I also appreciate your concern, you guys are awesome!

no prob! and yes 1/2 of 93 and half of 100 will be just a tad over 96 octane. half a tank of 100 (about 8 gallons) will be about $60. you may want to look into some stuff called torco accelerator.

Half of 100 + 96 = 95.5

Half of 100 + 96 = 95.5

don't really know what that means but if you take equal parts of 100 and 93 octane the average will be 96.5

do the math with me here

100+93= 193
193/2= 96.5 wow that was hard.....

Any idea if a few gallons of 100 octane will help clean the fuel system?

For example, once or twice a year throw in 2 or 3 gallons to keep it healthy?

Here's 2 locations from the Sunoco Website:

Sunoco Ultra Service Center
Tre 46 & Howard Blvd
Ledgewood, NJ 07852
(973) 584-5114

Prospect Point Sunoco
224 Route 35 North
Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742
(732) 295-3377

Get off exit 17 south of the Southern state, on the right is a gas station that sells 100. Also get off Southern state at exit 26 and make a left off the exit, go about a half mile up, gas station on the right has 100.

There is a Sunoco with a car wash on RT 46E by the GWB that DEFINITELY has 100 Octane CAM2 fuel.

Just go to pepboys and buy some superoctaneboosterstuff. Or here are some homebrew octane boosters http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/misc/octanebooster.html
