View Full Version : Meet in Northern California?
GHultberg 11-18-2007, 06:52 PM I'm trying to organize a meet and maybe make this a monthly or yearly thing. I live up in Santa Rosa and very close to Skaggs road, an amazing road to drive on. If anyone would be interested in getting together and doing this drive let me know. There's a huge parking lot to meet at by the boat ramps. I believe the road goes from Lake Sonoma all the way to the coast; it has some amazing views of the wine country.
Search YouTube for Skaggs road.

AKA, Skaggs Springs International RaceWay
I am telling you right now, someone will die if the group gets to big. Let me go search for some photos of SS.
It was built by the army core of engineers after a landslide.
That drive out to 1 is the shit, but it honestly takes 2 hours to get from 101 to 1.

giterdone 11-18-2007, 11:25 PM Check out your regional forum. I don't know about your area, but I know often times guys will organize meets, or you can at least find a plethora of people from your area to see if anyone is interested.
wiseleo 11-19-2007, 08:21 AM The Bay Area M3forum meet is typically on Fridays... details on m3forum :)
There are quite a few of us who show up. I don't know how many local Ms are in Santa Rosa. There seem to be more than a few in general Bay Area.
I suggest you post there in Pacific Section as well as here and on e46fanatics. We are always up for a scenic drive. :)
roush611 11-19-2007, 12:56 PM The seasons are finally starting to turn. :( I would be down but at this point i think it is going to be hard to schedule a meet/ drive not knowing what is in store for the weather. It is about time to put the car away for winter and start working on it any way... But if we can get this together soon i am down

sounds good.
Lets do one and make the meeting point somewhere in the middle of Marin since we are the North Bay Bimmers.
Lets say we meet at Northgate or somewhere in San Rafael.
I think that would be the middle point if people in the N .Bay are going to be coming from Santa Rosa or Sausalito. If your comng from else where better drive fast.
Just an idea.... But yeh lets get it started.
:buttrock

Yeh i think Skaggs is up north near Santa Rosa.
I haven't driven that road neither.
But then its DOABLE.
The Northgate Mall is just off the Terra Linda exit in San Rafael. That mall has a few big parking lots for us to park. Maybe some of us can meet there and then caravan up NORTH to meet the other folks that are from Rohnert Park, Petaluma, or Santa Rosa then do the Skaggs drive.
For you coming from Vacaville you might as well head up to the Santa Rosa then the other folks will drive up there to meet up then do the drive.
People from Santa Rosa and Petluma area should meet like at a In-N-Out up there somewhere. I think thre is one in rohnert Park or Santa Rosa.
I heard that drive was like 2 hrs?:eyecrazy
I dunno about that one. And the price of gas has gone up like nothing in the past few days.:mad

m3tracklover 11-19-2007, 07:16 PM hey i have driven and rode my bike on skaggs. Depending on day and time that rode is usually full of bikes. If you plan on going for a spirited drive prolly not the best since it is such small rodes and crowded.
WTFgerman 11-19-2007, 07:22 PM true maybe hwy 1 and we can roll through stinson beach theres some good restaurants

Dangerous at some points? If you are going 25 its fine. Go on a tuesday, no one is there on Tuesdays.
I do the run maybe once a month. Watch out for the wicked down hill S turn, there is a bump half way through it.

I have also done 1 from SF to Canada and then 1 from SF to Mexico. What an amazing road.
