I will take delivery tomorrow of a 2004 E66 with 42,000 miles. Between now and expiration of the factory warranty at 50k I have the option to purchase an extended service plan (I believe for about $2,000). The car is CPO with an extended warranty to 100,000 but I'm worried maintenance is going to eat me alive. Is the additional $2k a no brainer?

i believe so, I've been to a few dealerships recently looking at the newer 7's and most of the owners I have talked to have said the BMW maintenance program is well worth the price. It covers everything except tires.

Consider this. My 02 E66 will need brakes soon. The indi quote for all 4 sets of pads and rotors and sensors came to just under $1600. Sounds like $2K well spent. Good luck with your purchase.

For anyone wondering additional 2 years of service (excluding tires) ran me $2300 including 7% sales tax. After going over just a few items with the service manager (including magnfcnt7's brake job) it quickly became a no-brainer. Thanks again.

Personally, if I had a warranty that covered brakes, I'm pretty sure I would be extremely hard on my brakes.

Anyway, seems like a no brainer to get the warranty.
