My 1991 318is has an issue and I'd thinking I may have to have a mechanic look at it. Maybe someone experienced will know right away what it is. Any suggestions on who might be a good diagnostician in the Minneapolis area?

I'm open to bringing it to someone on this board who has experience with BMW's for a test drive too (in the Minneapolis area of course).

A buddy of mine who used to work with me at Motorwerks owns an 89' 325is and he knows a lot about his car. He knows much more about Honda's since he did a few swaps in Honda's and knows them by heart. He did a Prelude engine (H22?) swap into a V6 Accord. Or maybe it was a Accord V6 into a Prelude. I can't remember but he's done a few.

He knows much about BMW engines since he owns one. He swapped a Euro 3.2L M3 engine (S50B32) into a 1995 M3 and swapped in a 6 speed and a diff as well, plus coilovers as well.

He took the S50B30 (I think thats the engine code) and the 5 speed tranny out of the M3 for the swap, and he's putting it into an E30 he bought.






The above is just some of his credentials that would make him qualified. I don't know what the problem your having is, but I'm willing to bet he could at least find it and, after the nessicery parts are bought, he could probs do the work. Please send me a private message if you would like to go this route (he's no certified technician or anything so keep that in mind, he just has a knack for working on engines) and we will take it from there.

You could also try All Import & Domestic they are also ex-motorwork mechanics that started up there own shop. I have used them a few times and am very satisfied with there work. They have shops in egan and in burnsville.
