Hi all,
I have added a 6 CD Changer (Alpine) to my E46 which has 16:9 retrofitted. The headunit can see the CDs and tracks but no sound comes out? I have used the existing cables that goto the boot. Do I need to change any cabling for the headunit (16:9 with tape)?
Thanks

The CD Connections are on the radio module with Nav, which is in the boot. It's on one of the small 10 or 12 pin connectors that is part of the larget multiplug, it may be that you've got it upside down as there is no keyway.
With a retrofit, you can either run the CD Changer cable up to the front and then back again (which is the default with the retrofit harness), or get a short cable from a dealer which can reduce noise.

When you retrofitted the Navigation, there is an audio plug that needs to have pins relocated since the radio tuner is in the boot now - likely that step was skipped.
This is the source of your audio issue. Relocate the pins and you'll be set.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the replies, I think it makes more sense now. When I installed the Changer, I found the cables tied up in the boot where I ran the new retro cable pack through, so thought I had to use it. So I can disconnect the connector with the 5 cables and take them from the radio plug? I've got the wiring diagram but couldn't work it out before!

Correct - the audio cables need to be retrofitted to the new harness. Did you get an install guide for the navigation? If no, I can send one to you.

I have a guide (in PDF format) but the numbering of the cables and connectors for this bit is unclear, as they don't match anything.
If you could send me a copy that would be great.

peter @ witherow.net thanks!
Peter,
Can you send me a copy of the document you have? We'll compare what we have.
